He showed signs of improvement as the season went on and I'd have much more time for him in terms of his commitment than one or two other members of the Connacht squad who unfortunately we're stuck with for next season.
Its good news in that for a squad our size, 4 out halfs was too much (espscially with Carty and Leader on academy contracts) and it will hopefully free up a few euro to bolster us at hooker and centre in particular. I'd give my right leg for a quality scrum half.

Murphy is just a cover signing, we're in the market for another centre.
Naoupu, Vainikolo,Reyneke,Parks and White are our NIQ's
Forgot that Parks and White were coming in when counting the NIQ's. If Murphy is cover fair enough hopefully he can make an impact like McSharry did this year. As for Brian Blaney I have to say I'm not a fan but with Flavin and Reynecke here already I wouldn't really mind if he came in on small money. As for centers I think Whitten was a lost opportunity for us. I think going for a project could be our best bet in terms of experience if the IRFU allow.
P.S. As for Wasrednowgreen my condolences on being castigated I had something similar on the NOC thread. Just be glad you didn't get a sermon from its_phil
P.P.S. No disrespect meant or intended to Funk it or sligsup for calling him on it.

If thats your opinion fair enough, what ever about his quality the guy tried his best and gave all while playing and improved as the season progressed. And playing in a team thats on a a 13 game losing streak either. If hes leaving i wish him the best of luck. And maybe something more positive and slightly more subtle from you in the future.

Wasrednowgreen wrote: Great news that NOC is gone. Never rated him at all. No co-incidence that we have improved so much since his injury under Nikora. If I had to watch another season of his high kicking into the wind , I think I would have ended up in A&E with chest pains!
Think young Niall liked looking at himself a bit too much in the mirror rather than being the play maker that he thinks he is.
Good luck, goodbye , chiao , adios etc etc!! Onwards and upwards Connacht!!!
In short I think that your post is a little bit unfair. He did make a few important kicks for us. He wore the green jersey and put his body on the line, even cracked his skull for our cause and all. Ok, things didn't work out as well as we all would have hoped, but I would like to wish him well in the rest of his career. He took a gamble on coming west in the same scenario where an awful lot more have refused.

Ah You is a project
Perhaps we aren't able to sign another NIQ, although we may be allowed a project, who knows.
The irish qualified talent available is nothing to get excited about. McSharry, Griffin and Tonetti are young players, and Murphy is a development player. We really need an experienced head in amongst them.

There's one, Irish qualifer, He's Brian Blaney!
And Murphy is more a cover, we really need a center capable to broke the line and offload, in the high level rugby with aggresive defence.. the problem is to find a IQ, maybe Dineen has the potential..

Funds should be free to do so.
If Henry wasnt re_signed because of the NIQ does that mean its only an IQ player s we can sign??
The Nikora being IQ this year surely frees up a spot??

Just a Hooker and a centre, but two experimented ones!
