Don't like to gripe or to pick on someone but this crap really annoys me. Getting discount ticket holders to prove they are unemployed/under18/over65, making sure everyone plays fair - perish the thought!

A family ticket is cheaper than 2 adult tickets, I know a lot of couples who get these. About 5 years ago a stack of family tickets were sent out with 4 adult passes each. As recently as last year, I know of cases where student ticket holders got adult passes. The branch are right to be extra careful this year, nice to see people learning from their mistakes.

I'm not saying the branch are exemplary, or that we shouldn't complain - and if we don't have our tickets Friday we're all entitled to have a load off - but let's not start screaming BEFORE they f*ck up, shall we?

The blame is with the printers, on so I heard. I imagine they waited until as late as possible, so that they could get them all done at once, rather than go back and forth tothe printers.

i have figured out that the reason they're making some of the season ticket holders go into the branch is that they wouldnt be ready to be posted out.
they said that we will get an email saying when they would be ready to pick up. both of us, girlfriend and i havent received a word yet. both bought them early when the renew offer came out.
earliest they would be sent now is tomorrow, letter box thursday if that was the way. why did they leave them so so late.
has anyone else received an email of them saying there ready to be picked up????

As in the above thread, Sears said in the Sunday Times
"we're close to 3500 now".

I'd say we're above last years total anyway at this stage which in these times is a good result. Given the last minute nature of people in Ireland I'd imagine they'll sell another couple of hundred during the week. If we get 3600-3700 its a good total. I know some people had aimed higher but taking everything into consideration its good.

My fear during last season was that given how average our team was for the majority of last season that we'd lose the couple of thousand regulars we'd added to the attendance but we've kept them and added a few hundred more so its a step forward.

I suppose the big challenge would be keeping that many season ticket holders with no Heineken Cup to look forward to but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it (hopefully not in the near future)

We are posting out season tickets today, Monday August 27th, so you should have them midway through this week.

All concession season ticket holders will need to come to The Sportsground to collect their ticket. You will be notified early this week when your ticket is ready for collection. When coming to collect your ticket you must produce a valid identification which proves that you are entitled to a concession ticket. (E.g. Student Card, Medical Card, Free travel card...etc)

It was planned that the away kit would be available in Elverys stores on Saturday 25th August, but due to circumstances out of our control this date has been pushed out. We will update you on this ASAP.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you at the Sportsground this Saturday when Connacht take on Cardiff Blues. KO 5pm.

I understand that. I wasn't trying to imply otherwise. My point was that they'll be doing that using an inaccurate season ticket holder figure, making the attendance figures even more absurd (call me old fashioned, but I think an attendance figure should reflect the number of people in attendance).

I know its a case of fluffing the numbers, but if a regular Joe Soap reads a review, and sees that 5,000 fans were at the match rather than 2,600, he might stop and think that he's missing out on something, and decide to go to the next game.

Amen to that, I know there was a big screw-up with family/concession tickets some years ago so good to see they're implementing some proper controls.

You hit the nail on the head Rossie. I have it on good authority that the figure is nowhere near 4000. I can understand the thinking behind slightly exaggerated figures, but in this case, from what I've heard, there's nothing slight about the exaggeration, and the lie is just going to continue because they'll be forced to fiddle the attendance figures as well (season ticket holders are assumed to be in attendance when they come up with individual match figures).

I dont know how many they have to hold back for pro12 though.

I agree swifty about the trust issue re concession tickets. It also indicates that they view their customers/supporters as being entirely Galway based. It is after all asking a lot to expect an OAp, unemployed person or student from Roscommon, Slgo, leitrim or mayo to travel to the sportsground to prove that they are in fact entitled to those tickets. Last season the office was closed on game days.

Nonsense, they can pick them up at the first match they attend, the only hassle is providing proof that they are entitled to the tickets they are buying. Frankly have no sympathy for anyone trying to scam the branch.

Also with a bigger squad required because of Pro12, HEC & B&I Cup they absolutely have to make sure that they ensure that they are generating maximum possible revenue...

Guys

I take it all of the ST holders got their email from the M Fallon at the Branch stating that the ST's would be posted out on Monday 27th.

<em>From : Connacht Rugby <mfallon @ cbirfu.com>
Sender : Connacht Rugby <connachtnews @ connachtrugby.ccsend.com>
Subject : Connacht Rugby Season Ticket
To : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Reply To : mfallon @ cbirfu.com </em>

I replied to "mfallon" asking about Away HC tickets and got this back

<em>"Thank you for your email.
I am no longer working for Connacht Rugby.
All enquiries can be directed to Declan Whooley declan @ cbirfu.com or Alex Saul alex @ cbirfu.com
Thanks and Regards,
Martin"</em>

Is there some phrase about a "Piss up in a Brewery"

Get's even better, turns out Declan Whooley does not work there any more either. Now we know why everything takes so long, Alex is doing it all himself, poor sod.

a little bit of thrust issue there by the branch.
last season they sent them out in the post no problem.
would of been 10times smarter to ask for proof when signing up and then send them all out in the post

I think the Branch are copping on to non-students/OAPs buying student season tickets over the web and getting cheaper admission while not having to show their student / OAP card but I think they've taken a bit of a silly stance.

Its something the GAA started to look at a good few years ago and started making it very awkward for concession groups whereby you could only sit in a certain spot and had to buy adult tickets and only get refunds through a certain turnstile.

Its good in practice but I think the Branch should have made it clear at the start that they were going to put their foot down on this issue. I think it'll be hard to enforce at this stage if someone has shelled out money for any type of season ticket, you'll get people saying oh I lost my card and so forth.

I think they should have taken their medicine and tackled it next year or else call the student / OAPs and give a few locations / dates (like Elvery stores for example) where there'd be a branch employee present to deal with business. It could be messy for the opening day, you really don't want these kind of issues causing hassle at the gate on the opening evening.
