Good signing is that Poolman, if he has a Super 15 contract he must be decent enough

Heard that Hagan won't be coming back for now unfortunately

According to Wikipedia (I know) Poolman is signed on a 3 year contract. How old is this O'Meara lad? Is he academy?

Don't know much of him but I'm happy with the size of the player. 6 ft 2 inch tall and 16 stone.

Anyone have an idea who this Alex o'Meara is just seen Callum o'Connell retweet him and i went into his page and his bio is "Connacht Rugby player from july. bring it on!!" i presume he is an academy player

it would make sense. With the budget restrictions a club like connacht have it would make sense to sign players who can cover a few positions which is much easier to do in the backs.

White a project player? Hes in his 30s so id be very surprised if he is classed as a project player. He wasnt at Leinster anyway and was released afaik to free up an NIQ spot and replaced by an iq TH in bent which is how he ended up here.

As ummm says it doesnt matter much anyway, the result is the same for player and club but i thought guidelines for project were age, position etc.Poolman is 23 so fits age wise. If he can play 13 he fits(somewhat) position wise also although there is a greater need for a 12 imo.
will be interesting to see what happens.

He's been released from his contract so we can expect him to fetch up here sooner rather than later:

Who knows why we got an extra project player, though Eric was making a case for one months ago, could be we argued that since we released two NIEs and signed one NIE (Parks) and one project player (White) could we please have another project player, could be it was quid pro quo for releasing NOC back to Ulster, I don't care as long as he's some use.

Reynecke isn't an official project player, just a straight up NIE. (Sod all difference to him and us, but I think there's a difference as far as the IRFU are concerned)

The quote that he's moving to Ireland with a view to one day being capped for Ireland suggests a proper "Project" contract.

If not then the quota reason for letting Henry go looks shakey.

Not to mention Reynecke, which makes 4. Plus the 2 NIE players (George and Vainikolo). That's one over quota whatever way you look at it.

I do note that his SA Rugby profile lists him as an (outside) centre, so maybe he's our replacement for Henry at 12?

Stormers wing Danie Poolman will be moving to Irish club Connacht at the end of the season. Coetzee said that the move will be long term and that Poolman intends to become eligible for the Ireland national side.
