Sweet he's meant to be a very good centre. Bercis is the one that intrigues me there's rumours about him going to Leinster if we were able to nab him it would be a pretty sweet asset for us.

Coming into the academy? Hmmm that might mean Bercis and O'Hagan as well as young Carolan. Glad to hear Lam is making a good impression.

Ya into the academy. O Hagan is a name I've heard mentioned anyway, although he was training with the academy last year

Gardiner was year 1 academy. Obviously we've identified better prospects. Have heard there could be a couple of very promising exiles coming on board next year

Lam supposed to be making a big impression already. Omens are good

Sorry to see him go he had all the physical attributes to make it. Plus wasn't he only year 2 in the academy? Anyone one where he is off to? Think I met that busker before in Galway as well and he is a massive w*nker.

there are two tweets from him. the second one was from yesterday, made me laugh.

Thank you and goodnight to Galway! End of another chapter. Fond memories!

Last day in Galway, emptied the change jar into a buskers guitar case and he picks it up and throws it back at me... Some people! #wanker

What I understand Nigel Carolan is going to be talking to his family soon. I hear he really wants to stay with Connacht and is good friends with Cailon Blade, Saba, Jacob walsh, Sean O'Brien all lads he played with in the recent Ireland Under 19's and Connacht Under 19's.

Good to hear he has had a positive experience within the Connacht structure, hopefully he feels that there is the scope to progress if he continues in our structure. I believe there is, and it should not harm his chance either of progressing onto a Munster senior contract from here if he wanted to later on as have several other player previously.

Hope he stays considering Munster dropped him and he's got nothing but love off Connacht he'd also have a better chance of getting first team rugby with us plus I'm pretty sure he's won silverware in Connacht colours.

Good to know that Ah You is considered IQ or will be next season. I've being impressed with the recruitment so far so hopefully we get another great player to help the squad.

P.S. Did anyone read the Demented Mole article on 5 up and coming players? He picked the 5 most likely to make it to senior level and Shane Layden got chosen will put his profile here:

Shane Layden

Having impressed throughout the underage Six Nations, Layden missed out on the IRB Junior World Championship in South Africa due to a foot injury. He was replaced by Buccs team mate Conor Finn. Peter Nelson of Ulster started against pool games against SA and England before moving to centre against Italy where he scored two tries. Michael Sherlock played against Italy before Nelson returned to full back against England and France.

Layden (born 9/9/92) has mixed appearances for the Connacht Eagles in the B&I Cup and for Buccaneers in Division 1B of the AIL. The emergence of Robbie Henshaw (born 12/6/93) has limited opportunities for anyone else in the Connacht 15 jersey, including former captain Gavin Duffy. The Connacht Eagles finished last in their group winning one game while Buccs are fourth in Division 1B.

Layden’s last year has been plagued with injury including foot injuries and hamstring tears.

The other guy I want to mention is Conor Gilsenan

Conor Gilsenan

Gilsenan started against SA and England in JWC12 match but injured his ankle against England and played no further part in the tournament. That was the only match that Ireland lost in the tournament. Gilsenan was replaced at openside by Jordan Coghlan for the knock out games with Iain Henderson moving to blindside.

In the British & Irish Cup, Gilsenan came on for Leinster A at openside against Jersey, scoring a try, and started against Pontpridd. He shared the seven jersey with Coghlan and Dom Ryan in the A campaign and has yet to start for the senior side.

Gilsenan has recently had a run of games for UCD at blindside as Mark McGroarty seems to have nailed down the openside slot at Belfield. UCD lie second in Division 1B at time of writing after Ballynahinch claimed the title.

We need a 7 and Gilsenan is ahead of Conneely in most people's opinion (considering there was surprise that he got a development contract among some). I'd swoop in and see if I could get him.

According to the Irish Times today, "Lam will have some input into Connacht’s remaining fourth overseas signing before next season".

So I guess that means (1) both Reynecke and Vainkolo are definitely off (2) the remaining foreign contingent breaks down as follows:

NIQ/"Fordehn":

Clarke
George
Parks

Project:

White
Poolman

Regarded as IQ:
Ah You (IQ as of December)

Saw Rory Parata come on for Ireland under 19 at centre and was very good. He then started at out half against France. Was excellent at 12 during the interpros which they won and also played at fullback whilst with Munster. A competent goal kicker so maybe an answer for a good utility back. Heard Munster are fighting hard for him.
