Borlase wasn't being kept by Munster but the IRFU wanted to keep him for some reason. Connacht were pressured into taking him on loan to try him out. He made one appearance for us and was sent back down the road to Limerick.
Myself I don't think it was clear whether Friend was saying we needed a new outhalf from outside, or for someone internal (e.g. Fitzgerald) to step up. I don't see us needing someone from outside unless Carty is in the Irish squad, which while deserved would be unlikely. If we do need someone Keatley is the best available by some distance.

Not cup-tied in Europe, still only 31, covers 12,13,15 as well. With Bleyendaal back they have 5 senior outhalves so maybe it'll happen.
And also a quality player.
Can’t see it happening. Tyler B is still a major doubt. When did he last play.
I hate Munster and there loans. If Keatley comes here, then I hope it’s on our terms or till end of the season.
Munster like to loan players here and recall them quickly again. Peter McCabe was here on loan for 3 weeks, before that Peter Borlase was 2 weeks I recall. Played 1 game and Munster recalled him. I don’t think he played for Munster again for remaining 3 months. If he could of stayed here he might of gotten a contract with us.

Need for a LH is much greater.
Completely agree, but Friend himself talked about a 10...

So a 10/15 profile à la Carbery (like Peter Lydon) would be nice. Kelleher would focus on the wing
Lydon hasn't played 10 since his Seapoint days. Almost exclusively 15 at Std Francais, London Scottish and Ealing. Excellent place kicker, but not a viable 10 option anymore really....

If it is for a new outhalf then it brings up a few questions. 1 is it just as a precaution because we are down to 3 10s or 2. Are they seen as not good enough and the branch are trying to source a new recruit at 10 for asap and going forward into next season.
I'm sure the craggy crew might have a better insight into it on the podcast.
Scheduled for listening tonight.

" And with Craig Ronaldson ruled out for the season, Friend is looking for another outhalf. "
In the context of the article I don't know whether she is implying he's looking to sign one or looking for Fitzgerald or Horwitz to make the step up,

Time for Cian to give a call to the young brother!
(sadly Cronin is ageing too, so Leinster might sign him...)
