That's a bit unfair imo. Ricoh is a massive stadium with huge empty pockets and it can be very hard to get the fans into the game during lulls so it helps to have something to unify them a bit and get them involved. It's a gas chant but if it gets noise going I don't see any harm or disrespect. I can speak for myself that getting chants going in the College Road end yesterday was very difficult as most people weren't up for it until the two stands were in full voice. Obviously there was a big influx of new/casual fans who probably won't be at the Zebre game but it would be nice to get all 4 sides in full voice for 80+ minutes against Munster.goconn wrote: One thing I'm particularly proud off is that fact that (unlike last week in Coventry) we didn't have the loud public address intervention (aka 'blast') during game time. I found it to be unsporting and generally poor form over in Coventry when the announcer came on to regularly shout 'come on you Wasps!'......that is not in the spirit of the game, in my view. Not sure if it's just a Wasps thing or more pervasive in the Premiership, but I'm sure glad we don't do that kind of thing. That said, the Wasps folks in the SG were great, very friendly, excellent supporters and most welcome back here at any time. One of the very best European nights ever.
Fully in agreement on your assessment of the Wasps fans who travelled. They were great craic and very interested in what we thought of Coventry. Was also nice to hear that people are still making the commute from London to go to Coventry and hopefully they can catch Saracens eventually.

For the game itself, sure we've lots to improve upon but in the way that we hope Carty gets a shot of confidence from his kick, the team as a whole can from grinding out that result. No, we aren't playing as well as last season, but we can still win and that's even more important.
The crowd was immense, and that's crucial, so I want to say well done to the branch for that. Little things like the prizes for fans - and most importantly getting a chant going pre-game when James didn't give one to the Wasps fan - and the video of going to the little girl's house to tell her she's mascot (even if it was for an important sponsor) were great. It's easy blast out a few tunes and do the usual shtick but if you can get a buzz going in the ground before a big game, the fans are in it from before kick-off and I truly believe it pays off on the pitch

When you look back at all the times we've lost out on these type of decisions to win one in this manner is particularly sweet. When we lost out in similar circumstances we needed to accept our part in us losing the game and move on.
Wasps and the competition organisers need to do likewise.
There are dozens of questionable refereeing decisions made in every game, I'm hoping after each weekend from here on in we'll get a statement clarifying them all for us.
Agreed. Have been in the Sportsground so many times with my heart broken. I think the lowlight was Miah Nikora kicking at goal with last kick of the game when the ball just went over the bar against Leinster for a famous win. Cue absolute euphoria. To all of us in the stands it had gone over only for it to be reviewed. And the review showed it went under the bar. Cue absolute despair.
We have had to live with despair for far too long. I cannot describe how I felt after that game last night. Smiling from ear to ear. As was everybody else around me. We have battled against adversity and finally we have prevailed. As a supporter who has been there through the worst of times this means so much. You can only appreciate how far this team has come if you understand where we came from. I give huge thanks to Pat Lam in this regard.

Even bigger credit to Muldoon then. Referee didn't want to look like he didn't know the rules of the game so allowed the kick to touch. Go John

Borders no.2 wrote: Some other vital European games going on and very good news for us. Montpellier beaten at Castres which leaves it looking like we can almost rule that group out as providing a best 2nd placed team. Scarlets and Toulon in a nail biting finish at Parc Y Scarlets. Scarlets win. Looking like 18 will be more than enough for one of best 2nd place teams if we manage to do enough to stay ahead of Toulouse.
Yeah I think 2nd in our group will definitely qualify.
In Pool 3 Toulon are on 10 and Scarlets are on 8 and they both have to play Saracens.
In Pool 4 Montpellier are on 11 but it's hard to see them beating Leinster away.
In Pool 5 Bordeaux and Ulster (at the moment, hard to see them coming back from 21 points down in Clermont) only have 9 points each.
Our pool and Pool 1 are looking odds on to have 2 of the 3 best second place qualifiers.

I thought Marmion was superb, especially in the first 20 mins, where he seemed to be making every second tackle for us, and on men twice his size. The second row were immense, some huge carries and tackles by Ultan. Rory Parata did really well against some top class opposition and Bundee moved up another gear. Incredible work rate right across the 23.
I have to say that I thought Garces was weak, and far too willing to shrug his shoulders and let things go, especially high tackles. Going to the TMO for our maul try was pointless and could easily have been the main point of discussion this morning if things had gone differently. Having to go off injured was huge for us, I'm not sure he'd have fallen for Muldoon's Jedi mind tricks at the end!

Uber happy for Jack Carty, a great player who needs more confidence in his kicking. In the cauldron of pressure he stepped up (twice I think lol) and did the job. The teams response towards him was more than a winning kick as Bundee showed with his MOTM gesture.
Best start to Christmas weekB)
