Basically that they've got a new coach who's trying to rebuild their confidence, and getting a pre-season shellacking from us like last season would not be ideal in the circumstances.

For me I like Pre-season games, they are what they are in terms of results (unless you're battering Munster in Thomond :dry: ) but it's always good to see where the squad is at fitness/ preparation wise and get an early look at new recruits.

Also watching Summer rugby in shorts, drinking beer.

I've been at a few recent pre-season games in the Sportsground (Wasps and Grenoble) and they're poor fare and poorly attended. The result doesn't matter, but we got absolutely walloped in both games as both oppositions were much further down the line in training, so I can't think there'd be much to hype. Roll on the real rugby.

This one's a bit of a puzzler alright. From what I know Connacht themselves haven't even mentioned the Montpellier game anywhere - I've only heard of it on here. And it's only 9 days away. They usually have at least one home preseason game (admittedly not always against the most mouthwatering opposition) and you would expect given the season they've had that they would be looking to get a decent team in and hype the bejaysus out of it. Yet complete silence on that front.

Thanks sea_point, great info. I'm off work then so might look into taking the young 'un!.....depending on cost, although camping could be an option.

Only confirmed Pre-season game is on Thursday 11th August as part of Challenge Vaquerin a small tournament in the South of France.
