Complete random fact, I was thinking about both Willie and Eoin last night, trying to list a team of "would-be-young-enough-to-play-ex-Connacht-guys", including exiles, injured, released and just-retired

1) Brett Wilkinson/Jamie Hagan
2) JHW/Sean Cronin
3) White/AhYou
4) Craig Clarke
5) Aly/McCarthy
6) Mick Kearney
7) Faloon
8 ) Naoupu
9) Reddan
10) McGinty/Keatley
11) Fanning
12) Downey
13) Robbie
14) Shane Monahan
15) Carr

Would be nice to meet this team for a friendly this summer!

Seems to unfortunately have been the same issue as with us, one disrupted season of a moderate amount of games and some injury followed by a season totally wrecked by injury. No doubting his talent at all, but the lads body sadly doesn't seem to be able to handle the demands... Serious shame...

I would say that the SA deal was agreed in principal last season and that AJ was taken in to fill a gap in the interim.

When they realised how good he was they then tried to keep him but his international status scuppered the move.

By all accounts he really wanted to stay.

Agree totally that the genie is out of the bottle as regards his ability.

Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door.

So sad that this news is announced in the "ex-players" thread :(
I think that's at 2am Sat night. I'll dig up a stream when I get home :)

AJ's club is listed as Connacht on USA rugby site so officially ours (for another while anyhow)! Hopefully he'll have a great game. So disappointing that we couldn't retain him.

Bit of a disgrace really we've lost him, and are forced to replace him with another NIQ who's totally unproven outsider SA..And the Genie is well and truly out of the bag now for AJ, even after the RWC he was a bit of an unknown even in Ireland. Sadly I don't see Connacht being in a position to regain his services again, barring a disaster at Sale there'll be some big clubs looking for him in future.

Yeah

The article clearly states that he will "become" head coach. Says that he will have full responsibility for the 1st team. The line "et du terrain" is the interesting line. Literal translation is he will have full responsibility of the field.

My understanding is perhaps that his previous position was just as a coach but he did not pick the team and that now he will be doing both. IE. full control on and off the pitch.

I'm not sure that story is accurate. L'Equipe have a different take on it ...

www.lequipe.fr/Rugby/Actualites/Fc-greno...kman-prolonge/689540

They say the current DOR Fabrice Landreau is finishing at the end of next season and the Bernard has extended his head coach contract.

EDIT: actually it says Jackman is extending his contract and becoming head coach, which I thought he already was.
