The players showed penney that there is nothing wrong with the munster way. All it requires is the commitment and to be fair it requires all in commitment but when given is a thing of beauty. They started the game playing the penney way. I dont think rog kicked the ball until around 10-12 min mark. That kick changed a mindset though and it was brilliant to watch from then on.

As the hurling saying goes we have earned the right to puck the ball out to clermont now and that will do for this morning.

Well we all know they played the "old" munster way!

I think the bigger question is: who decided to revert back to their core principle. Penney realised or the players decided?

What did people think of the way Munster played? I didn't see much of this running rugby that Penney is always harping on about. It was forward orientated stuff that worked for Munster that and having a guy like POC making the right calls at the right time. Judging Heaslip next to him shows the difference that a good experienced captain can make to a team. I'm not saying Heaslip is bad just that POC is better.

Fair play to Munster, deserved win and big lift for them. Didn't give them much of a chance here but I was never convinced by the hype surrounding Harlequins and once Munster kept with them early on they grew in belief.

Wouldn't give them much chance away to Clermont but who'd bet against them in fairness.

well well well, who expected that. i had a little feeling because of the way they pulled together vs us in musgrave, paul o connell back and rog clicked. glasgow match was due to mistakes!

today they played out of there skin, best match all weekend, o connell must be lions captain, hands down best player on the pitch with murray doing well too.

Terrific performance by Munster in that second half, well deserved win. O'Connell was superb and made a huge difference.

Connacht did this a few years ago aswell. They only retained 5 at that time afaik 1 odf which was based fulltime in galway city. Neighbour of mine was one of the ones let go.
The choir is mrsc funded and while im not a fan is voluntary group afaik and only get gear etc from mrsc.

Could be true, I am pretty sure I heard that Leinster have 120 development officers throughout the provience. Granted these are part timers who also coach clubs or schools to make more money.

It might not be a bad thing from an Irish player perspective mind you, players need regular high intensity games to develop. That's my issue with Dineen and potentially coming to us, 14 games overall for Munster seniors as a 25/26 year old isn't enough not matter how good he may have been as a 20/21/22 year old...

A reduction in budget will mean that much more focus will need to be given to indigenous player development, something that they really only started to get to grips with reluctantly under McGahan...

Dineen has signed on for a further two. <strong>(fair play for getting another contract out of Munster)</strong>

Scrum-half Cathal Sheridan moves from a Development to a full one year contract <strong>(Well deserved)</strong>

Barry O'Mahony extends his Development Contract for another season. (<strong>can't believe they only gave him another development and not a full one)</strong>

Nagle and Sheridan are sort of expected, O'Mahony not a surprise either given it's only a development.

You'd sort of have to wonder how bad things actually are at Munster financially when they're offering Dineen two years to retain him.

He's 26 in the summer and in this his most capped season by far, barring two games (only one against Treviso he's started and finished, the other against Scarlets he was hauled off half way through) he's only been used as a late replacement for 15 minute runs from the bench...

While you may like him as a player Rossie, even you must be slightly surprised that he's being retained and you are not strengthening your squad for next season.
