Maybe partly that, the press release on the rabo page says Munster felt they couldn't compete with other offers from abroad, perhaps it was the length of the contract they couldn't compete with. In fairness to Laulala even though he has his problems and hasn't really fit with what Munster have been trying to do (imo) he played 27/30 games last year and I think 10 this year that's a significant contribution that will be hard to replace.

Poolman didn't look too comfortable at centre earlier this year but maybe an extended run would see him improve. atm we need him more on the wing though imo.

What do people think of Ryan signing a new deal? I'm assuming it was 3 years to match whatever L.I or Pergignan offered him but it now makes the Copeland signing look odd. Someone in their backrow has to leave if they want gametime it's turning into Leinster with a backlog of backrows.

Looking at the Munster site the most intelligent guess is that Copeland is being brought in to replace Donnacha Ryan who is being linked with Perpignan. Makes sense when you look at it from that perspective.

Lualala is off to Grenoble next season which means that with BOD retiring Leinster and Munster could both be in the market for a new centre new season. While Leinster have Macken and could potentially move Luke Fitzgerald there permanently I wouldn't be surprised to see them want someone new there.

Munster afaik have no young lad coming up in the outside centre spot and I while Earls can play there with his form on the wing I'd be loathe to move him back. The thing is with the new rule now being enforced only one of these two can have a NIQ playing there. So unless they find someone with an Irish Granny there could be some serious politicking going on in the next while. Interesting times ahead.
