I'd have to say a wooden spoon would seal Kidney's fate and I have a feeling Ireland will be battling the Italians for it on the final weekend.

i saw the wolfhounds game on tv, and it clearly showed that bent couldnt hold the scrum an any way.
that was against 3rd and 4th choice props from england, france have the best scrum in the 6 nations.
if bent comes on early, this could be worse then when court was th vs england.

Agreed but it's hard to change a managers opinion if he already looks at you a certain way. I saw the game he played in and I didn't think he did badly at all.

Thornley said that to me. Said he was too nice to be exact. Implied that it was general feeling around management. Still if your chosing between loughney, bent and archer he gets my vote.
Unfair to judge him on one game v world champs away imo.

Yeah but I remember that comment about Kidney saying there isn't enough Dog in him. Loughney's goose is cooked with Kidney and he won't be getting anymore caps until the new guy comes in at least.

Bent has 11 super 15 appearances and 48 appearances for taranaki in local nz cup. 2 appearances for ireland and the few for leinster.
Archer has 45 for munster, 1 for wolfhounds and not sure how many for munster A. not huge amount in it and he is irish and irfu produced.
Loughney has 118 appearances for connacht and 1 for ireland so if you had said anti connacht bias you might of had a point!

I take your point but up until this season Archer had being nothing but a liability and if it comes to experience then Bent has a lot more, as well two Irish caps. I have no problem Archer being in the squad getting experience but if it's a straight up choice at the moment it has to be Bent.

He plays regularly at pro12 and hec level. Bent is on same level as him. Not ideal for any coach but with 3 of the 4 starting ths niq atm and the other starting who does he have to pick from? Hardly munster bias. Loughney is in same position here as archer at munster, bent at leinster and fitspatrick in ulster.

I can't believe they have to 'choose' between Bent and Archer. While Archer has come on a lot he's still nowhere near international level. Kidney's provincial bias at it again.

Team announced. Mcfadden in for gilroy whos injured. No one picked at 10 or bench spot as jackson and jonnie have fitness tests later in week. Macca and healy into pack. Doc to bench. Killer stays on bench. No sub th announced as fitzpatrick picked up injury. Presume fitness test there also. Fitzgerald retains bench spot.

I like Robbie Diack and think he deserves his place in the squad. EOM and Kearney are there to hold tackle bags and to get experience. The slang term in the squad is Skittles as they get lined up and hit for the whole wknd. It's seen as a right of passage.

Amen Brother!

Had a look at the squad listing, and after several years of giving out about a Mediocre-but-Munster selection policy (Mick O'Driscoll, Tomas O'Leary, please take a bow) it's probably only fair to point out that the most obvious tackle-bag holders in this squad are Leinster boys: you can add Toner to the 2 lads you picked out.

Odds on: it'll be Healey again!
