Would definitely see it as a small bluff on Connachts behalf.
They're exploring all options, and if these some how get leaked to the press, well that benefits Connachts hand in negotiations with the dog people

Probably going to see a lot of these articles where stuff is recycled. Usually an agenda behind them all, this may well be to put the wind up the dog crowd to accept the deal that's on the table.

They seemingly are looking for more which is their right, but no harm to remind all involved that there are other options available .

Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door.

Nothing actually new in that we know they've been looking all options, and talking to everyone.

I don't think it'll happen personally. Ideally the sportsground gets developed and we stay home.

Apparently there's a spot there available and it will keep the two bierhausen (like that??) close to one another. Sounds like a good idea and would avoid a big gap between the two

Any "short term" improvements in place for this season or is it same as last year?

"There’s one or two that are viable that we’re not really in a position to talk about publicly at the moment, but we are looking very closely at them"

Outside of the docks or Sportsground redevelopment, what could the options be?

Love the way they show a picture of Breffni Park in Cavan instead of Ravenhill. Kingspan need to stop sponsoring so many grounds.

Minimum capacity is 16500 as far as I remember for pool games. It was increased from the 2011 World Cup in NZ which was smaller.

Overall, that list of venues makes more sense than the original one that was being floated around a while back. The Gaelic Ground and Semple Stadium are gone and Nowlan Park and Fitzgerald Stadium are in.
It would sound like the perfect opportunity to fund development of the Sportsground, but the problem would probably be that the capacity needed for a RWC stadium would be much bigger than what Connacht would need long term.

One big difference though is in this statement:

Parliament has long denied greyhound racing the favours it grants to other sports.

On this side of the Irish Sea, state support is much more enthusiastic. In fact I believe in some constituencies you can register your greyhound to vote.

The story of AFC Wimbledon's new stadium has a few parallels with the Sportsground.

www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jul/27/wi...-plough-lane-stadium

Looks like dog racing over the water is as doomed as it is here, but there are some interesting insights into the other side of the track (I didn't know, for instance, that the dogs are the forbears of online betting).
