Dan to stay on. Have to say personally I am delighted with that. I think he has done a very good job with our forwards!

we're losing defence coach mike foreshaw who's going back to england 'as planned' after his 3year contract. also keith fox is leaving to work with the national team. keith is the head physioterapist.
'it is hopped' that dan mcfarland and billy millard will stay.
Why can't Keith do both jobs, surely the national team position is only part time really? I would be pretty disappointed if this leads to worse or longer injuries in the future now
Muldowney is a nice signing, he's at the right age as people have said and with DOC almost certainly retiring soon enough, (and POC for that matter, barring a miracle return to health, will surely retire within a year or two) there is plenty of opportunities for second rowers to break into the national team.
With all that said I think we need at least one more second row and another 7, unless it is intended for George to move to second row full time, which would facilitate even more game for McKeon in fairness so wouldn't be a bad thing.

The main positive I take from this signing, is that we're not just looking at being a development squad, and only taking on young academy players from other Irish teams. I like that a lot.

Yeah I'd always be wary of 3 year contracts. I'd worry players with that kind of security would get into a comfort zone. But this chap is Irish qualified so he has a bit of incentive. Macca was around his age when he broke into the Irish team so he might look to follow that example.
I seen him a bit when he was at Glasgow and in fairness he looked the part but to be honest I never even knew he went to Exeter. Is he Macca's direct replacement? I don't mean any offence to him he could turn out to be top quality but I'd have been hoping we would be getting somebody more established to replace Macca.

Always a good sign
I checked that to. There seems to be much wailing and the gnashing of teeth which is a good sign. Makes me think we got a winner here.
Chief Executive Tom Sears said: “Aly is a player we have looked at for some time; our coaching staff have watched him a lot and identified him as one of our key recruitment targets..."
I know that folk often say this when they are bringing in a new player, but this sounds like a great bit of business, fair play to all involved.

I kinda knew there would be another announcement today. I'm not sure about tomorrow. Either something big, or nothing at all.
