I think the guy on boards who first posted the story about him leaving, should be a little more cautious with posting everything he hears.

His best option is to stay in Connacht and have a run at Marmion, Leinster didnt want him so going back there he will always play second fiddle as well.
Hope he stays as I think hes a cracking player.
Heenan U turn apparently, seems like hes staying now.
Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door.

sligsup wrote: There are rumours on the Leinster board that John Cooney is heading for Ulster.
Ulster fans can't seem to decide whether they're getting Porter or Cooney.
They're certain that something is a "done deal", but they're just not entirely sure what.
I'd say there's a good chance that whichever one we hold onto will surpass the other next season.

Interestingly for Connacht fans, CEO Willie Ruane has promised that there will be confirmation of further new signings in the coming weeks.
“Recruitment and retention is ongoing and as our squad continues to evolve, we intend to have more announcements in the coming weeks,” said Ruane.
You'd sort of expect some alright, especially with a Champions Cup place nearly in the bag and so many players likely being tied up by the National Team Squad demands. We need a bit more resiliency next season especially when we remember that this season over half the whole squad was on the treatment table and unavailable the week we played Newcastle away in Challenge Cup..

Woohooo I was right, in Carey we trust :woohoo:
Not sure what you're most happy about Connachta...
Good signing though, will be interesting to see what Pat, Jimmy and skills team can do to improve his skills in line with a very different style of play to Championship...
I love good predictions, but I love Connacht more!!
He'll be 25 (not 24) when the season starts. New Bealham prospect, same age!
Ah, but I didn't say which September....

I hope this is the start now of announcing contracts and new signings.
I would certainly hope for at least one exciting new signing. Perhaps not going to be a Craig Clarke or Bundee Aki type of signing but someone exciting that adds to the momentum, rather than squad fillers.
Feels a bit like that early ACT Brumbies team lately!!!

Conor Carey, ex-Ulster academy TH signs from Nottingham.
No detail on length of contract so probably one year for both.

Teacher is happy...
Good stuff, happy for Heff. Tend to forget how young he is in Hooker years...
Carey looks like a useful signing, 24 in September he's been a consistent starter for both championship sides Nottingham & Ealing , Outside of Pro2 it's probably the best learning ground for young forwards, good mix of almost premiership quality and slightly weaker sides....
