As we head towards the end of our best ever season it bothers me that we lose such players as aly, aj and Robbie. All of them have been instrumental in our success. While Eddie o Sullivan may believe we can't simply be dependent on an individual player we will suffer most particularly at second row. Aly is immense. Then aj is feckin brilliant and Robbie just made the wrong choice IMO. Who is going to replace aly, I hope Shane steps up for aj but that is unlikely and while I'm not a Robbie fan he has feckin stuck in there for Connacht this year. I would rather he played at Connacht but even when leaving he has worked his butt off so credit to him. Three players very hard to replace.

Possibly the Sharks game too. Saxons are playing South Africa A in 2 games too so if he doesn't make the Boks he should make that team sheet. Will be good for him to get some decent games under his belt. Has he recovered from the injury?

They are all saying he's definitely out for a month alright. Thing is though, that means he actually only misses one Super XV game, against the Bulls on Saturday at 4. So Marnitz won't even get to see the start of the Pro12 final!

You are probably right. Would be great if he made the boks squad too.

Jantjies seems to be properly injured this time. Hopefully we will get to see Boshoff play a few games.

There will be a medical report later that says that while he was initially thought to have a fractured finger, the final diagnosis was that he had gotten three inches taller and grown an extra arm.
Jaco van der Walt seems to have a real injury though, so you'd imagine that should get Marnitz promoted to the bench at least.

I see Leinster have announced the signing of a promising 24 year old Kiwi scrum half (he has played on tour with the maori AB's according to reports).

This may be good for Leinster but I feel sorry for Luke McGrath as he is 23 himself and needs games to develop. After waiting patiently in the wings while the likes of Boss and Reddan have got game time ahead of him he must be sick. If they wanted cover why not sign an older journeyman scrum half? It looks like another foolish move by Leinster to me as McGrath looks the real deal form what I have seen of him.

The good news from Connacht's point of view is that Cooney is very unlikely to be going anywhere in the near to distant future now. With Marmion, Cooney, Blade and Stephen Kerins we are stacked with top class scrum halves now. I must say I am delighted with this news as I really thought Cooney would be going back to Leinster in the next year or two (even expected him to go back this season which would probably have made more sense than the kiwi fella).

Yeah that would be my take on it too. I do think we will get one more big signing and maybe said signing is still involved with his club currently and doesn't want it announced early? If it is a marquee signing then they may not want it distracting their team from any chase for honours that they are involved in.

Pure guess work ,but I imagine any announcements have been put off until after the season ends.
No point distracting the players in any way

There were rumblings of a kiwi second row a few weeks back but not a peep since.

He's young though and improving every year. Very intelligent in his running and offloads, he always seems to take an angle for a reason.

O'Halloran is so good in the air, has good hands and is a decent running threat, if he could tackle he'd be a top fullback

Well deserved too.

If masterson and heenan hadn't been so injured I think they would have been pretty close too and I reckon tiernan could be in with a shout over the next year or so also.
