We can now offer top seed status for Champions cup in the most exciting attacking team in the pro 12 and a wonderful quality of life for a family man who might have to bring wife and kids to the west.
Compare this to offering bottom seed champions cup in a team that fell apart when the pressure came on and where three key players were jumping ship!

Spot on re second row darragh, I have been saying this since muldowney announced he was leaving. I think marshal is a very exciting player tbh, in the bits we have seen of him I think he could do really well for us but this still leaves us a but short unless they are going to try SOB there next season. I'd like to see a good experienced operator (Clarke type would be epic) to help the younger lads in their development.

Our line out as well as our general keep ball on hand game plan is really going to be under pressure without muldowney so he really needs to be replaced imo.

He was very impressive with ball in hand as well as kicking (he did miss a couple of very gettable ones but kicked some from right out on the touch line too).

His defence was very poor though and it was noticeable how he left the defensive line dropping back deeper when the team was defending and not sure how that will work for us especially after seeing AJ (what a legend) doing such defensive shift both tackling and securing rucks etc.

What I was most pleased about was when he took the ball flat to the line, he has gas and a cracking pass too. He really whips the ball out wide with purpose. If we can work on his defence (and let's face it he's not going to be facing the trucking beef that he was facing in the bills team every week for us) then we will have a serious player on our hands and the backs are going to love him.

Yep Boshoff played a key role in a big game for the Lions.

Kicked a lot of goals and regardless of how he is 'perceived' as a kicking out half, I have no doubt at all that his game will develop under our coaching team. He could well be massive for us next season.

I do fear we need another key signing or two in the pack for what is going to be a big year next year.

We probably do need to replace Ali Muldowney with someone with similar stature and influence. Or else Roux and Ben Marshall really need a run of games to build some influence there.

Possibly a little light at loosehead towards the end of the season with injuries. Not sure which side Carey is best at?
Still think a number 8 would be welcome too, but we are very well stocked with the youngsters who have some wonderful experience now.

On another note I was very happy to see layden in there. I was wondering what happened to him? He looked so good for Ireland u20. Is he anywhere near the connacht first team?
