Another win next Friday and we pass out last season's total with 9 games to spare. Looking back through the table in years gone by, 44 points in 2003/04 was our record points haul over 22 games. We have it well within us to smash that total this season.

UPDATE FOR WEEK 12

I've added an extra value to the bottom of each points column.
It shows our total of points home and away last season. Hope it's clear

And the up and down points difference for the rest of the teams

Connacht 16
Ospreys 6
Edinburgh 3
Glasgow 2
Munster 0
Ulster -2
Dragons -3
Treviso -5
Scarlets -5
Leinster -7
Cardiff -9
Zebre -9

Scarlets have dropped another point!!!
The reason for the minuses outweighing the pluses (by 13 now) is fewer losing bonus points being awarded. Last year there were 64 LBPs and 42 try BPs, this year at the halfway stage there's 19 LBPs and 23 TBPs. I know this isn't comparing the same games in each year but does this mean the league is getting less competitive?

Yeah, it's going to be tough to replicate the 5 pointers away to both Zebre and Dragons. It will be vital to to pick up points in every game, make up for the draw against Cardiff by beating them there and beat at least one of the top 4 teams in the Sportsground (Munster might be a good start).

Leinster away, Ulster away and Munster at home were just 1 point in total last season. It'd be great to gain further ground on the head to heads from last season.

There are a number of games we did very well in last year yet to come so that big increase in points may be difficult to maintain later in the season.

Whatever way you cut it we're far better off than last year....

Thus far this season: 27 points

Same fixtures last season: 11 points
P-W-D-L-TB-LB
9-2-0-7-0-3

First 9 games last season: 7 points
P-W-D-L-TB-LB
9-1-0-8-0-3

What I really like about this is that the platform for this was set without our 3 big names playing at the start of the season and they have come in at a perfect time and given that extra push to keep the good run of form going.

We couldn't have scripted it much better.

the minuses outweigh the pluses by 8. ?? less bonus points awarded so far?

Last season there was a massive 20 points between us and scarlets
This season we're +16 from last season and scarlets are on -4.

So if connacht and scarlets match there results from last season from the remaining games, we'll both finish on 52 points, and we finish 6th with 10 wins and scarlets in 7th spot with 9 wins

Was hoping someone would do this. WOuld be nice to have an update on these every few weeks.

Actual points for 6 place for last 4 years were: 55/54/56/60
But minimum required (7th place plus 1 point) would have been 42/51/51/50
51 seems to be the most realistic target at this stage for 6th place.
The combined 12 points we got away to Dragons/Zebre/Scarlets last season is a big ask to replicate unfortunately - how we perform in those 3 games and how we perform over christmas will define our season.

Exactly what I said earlier. Hope we could beat one of Galgow/Ospreys home in addition..
