Mazda was worth €1m a year over 3 years. Seems we completely fleeced them, and we got way more from that deal than we should have. Hence they didnt renew as main sponsors, but stayed on board as a smaller partner
Lifestyle was closer to 100k a year over 3 years. Considering that deal ended after 2 years, there must have been some buy out, or early termination agreement
No clue with Elverys are paying, but I imagine it would be higher than what Lifestyle were paying, but no where near what Mazda gave us. Guess work would be somewhere around the 200k a year, but this is based off of nothing, but previous numbers

Would it be anywhere near 1 million over three years? I have no idea what main sponsor deals in rugby are worth?

Glad to have a new sponsor, which can't possibly look as bad, and that it's Elvery's as they were good to us in the past when no one else wanted to know us. Just hope they stumped up plenty of cash too
Also means I can stop shopping in Lifestyle as I do my best to support our sponsors where I can

They didnt have the jersey in stock. Couldn't believe it.
I know I was in Leinster, but I would have thought that as the main sponsor, they'd have the jersey available on the day it went on sale

At the time I was disgusted, Castlebar is far from a rugby stronghold and I felt that both lifestyle sports and Connacht rugby were missing a trick in promoting a minority sport in this region.
Being the sad ejit I am I did go in a few times to check if had changed, it hadn't.

It always irked me as well, how little they promoted Connacht rugby. There twitter account seemed to promote Leinster more than Connacht
As for the logo, I'd imagine it will be both Intersport and Elverys as the main logo, and probably something for elverys.ie on the arms or back
Can't wait to see the new jersey though. Wasn't a big fan of last seasons top

Lifestyle were giving the stuff away this year (in exchange for me looking like a human billboard).

menacethedenis wrote: This is good news mainly as we won't have the awful Lifestyle Sports logo on the gear next season
However if we have both Elverys and Intersports logos (wildly different colours and fonts) on the front of the shirt it will be a case of out-of-the-frying-pan... here's hoping they don't feck it up.
Edit: First indications (training kit) good; different fonts but same font size, only one colour (white) and the logos are - hallelujah! - centre justified one above the other.

I also pray for a vibrant logo. The Intersport element is no doubt, much more international than the Elverys element of the brand.

Connacht had its most successful season in 2015/16 with the professional side winning the GUINNESS PRO12 competition and its first trophy in 131 years. That success was rewarded with a record seven Connacht players featuring on Ireland’s recent tour to South Africa.
Elverys, which was established in 1847, is Ireland’s oldest sports store, and today has 58 stores countrywide. Currently the business employs almost 800 people in Ireland. In 1995, Elverys became part of the Intersport group, one of Europe’s largest sporting goods buying groups. The Elverys brand remains true to its original roots, stocking products for a wide diversity of sports.
The new Connacht range for the upcoming season will feature the Elverys Intersport branding and will be launched in late July.
Speaking about the sponsorship Elverys Intersport Chief Executive Patrick Rowland highlighted that the opportunity to re-establish a relationship with Connacht was a perfect fit for Elverys:
‘’We believe that this is a great opportunity given our roots in the West of Ireland to launch a partnership with a local organisation who also have a significant national and international presence. Connacht Rugby mirror our ambition to be the best and most successful brand in each of our respective sectors.
Buying & Marketing Director of Elverys Intersport, Loman Caulfield commented on the brand’s commitment to rugby in Connacht:
“Down through the years we have been involved with Connacht Rugby at all levels of the game throughout the province, having previously sponsored the professional team, the Connacht Schools Cup, the Connacht junior team, as well as a number of All Ireland League clubs. Our heart is in Connacht and this is well reflected in our backing of Connacht Rugby.”
In welcoming Elverys Intersport to the Connacht Rugby family Willie Ruane, CEO of the club said:
“Everyone at Connacht Rugby is delighted to welcome Elverys Intersport as our title sponsor and official retail partner in what is a very exciting time for the entire province. We believe Elverys Intersport share our strong commitment to our community and we look forward to working together and representing the real ambition and belief that is so very clearly part of Connacht as a people and a place.”

“AJ MacGinty’s mum and dad came into the hospital to see me and took my Mum out for dinner to make sure she was ok.
“Dave McSharry’s Dad also put my Mum and Lisa Casey (the Physio) up in a hotel. The support I got from Connacht was overwhelming after my injury.”

Even if I didn't understand a word of it, I really wanted to hear what he regarded as too technical.
But now I'm beginning to wonder whether he's as smart as I thought he was.
