1. Did Robbie leave his laptop on the back seat?- silly boy It would seem so. The rear window was smashed so I presume they saw the laptop.

2. Hope the lads weren't in Connacht gear. Doesn't seem like they were. The person who made the video had a severe case of the shakes.

3. Where does Robbie park (visit would be welcome). Happened in NUIG I believe.

Judging by the comments, the majority of people seem to be backing the players.

I heard about this last week, and the jist I got was the gardai had been approached first, and said that they could try and get a warrant but what they've found in the past is that by the time the warrant is received, the item has generally been sold on already. I also heard that for a finish the laptop was handed over, they shook hands and that was the end of it. The video is pretty grainy/shaky, but it does seem like it got a bit heated alright. So, perhaps not the wisest move ever, but I wouldn't be too quick to criticize Robbie or the lads for standing up for themselves/each other. People can decide for themselves whether they think the guy who had the laptop had bought it in good faith from the thief, or if he had been involved in the theft himself. It seems nobody will ever know for sure, so a line should be drawn under it, and we move on to focus on arguably the biggest game in the provinces history.

Getting a laptop back from a hoodlum 'who didn't realise the laptop was stolen before he bought it'. Good that the Guards were called and the name of this family is now public. Well done Robbie, Bundee and any/all others that did the business here. Proud.

I am so shocked with that opinion. We build a society based on functional elements. So it it acceptable for our society representatives to provide a thuggery viewpoint to our children. And yes it was Robbie's laptop. We have a police force for that not a rugby team for that.

I am shocked that you think we have a functioning Police force capable of going to the McDonagh house and retrieving the laptop.

You are most likely a troll.

I think it shows that off the field, the players back each other up which is great. Also it shows that there is zero bitterness shown to Robbie for leaving. All in all, I think the players have come out of this quite well.

Also, I wonder if they had known that they were going to a McDonagh house, would they have actually gone there?

It had never crossed my mind that anyone would think their actions (asking politely but firmly that the laptop be returned) were anything other than admirable. I think it's a great story.

I'm glad they didn't lie down and take it like the rest of us are expected to do. I wish the community in question had to deal with that more frequently.

"young kids who idolize them"..."They deserve significant sanctions"..."I am not happy with their representation"...."a value and a message to the younger generation"..."All players involved should be heavily disciplined"...."to provide a thuggery viewpoint to our children"...."a gang show up in front of a house to enact their justice "

I have zero interest in engaging with you on this, because I'm pretty sure I've seen where that leads on another forum, but maybe consider that you don't actually own the players and that if they want to go ask for stolen property to be returned in their own time you have no right to demand that their employer discipline them.

Sure sit them down and explain what could have happened and why they shouldn't have done it but I'd say they have got that message already now.

I totally disagree. Its not about rugby. Its a value and a message to the younger generation. I want to win our semifinal no more than anybody else but not with such a message. All players involved should be heavily disciplined.

Dobby, speaking of Offence and Discipline, you were asked previously by Mod's to mind your language on here, with that in mind you need to amend the last line of your post #44379 .

That reference is just not acceptable on here...!

Checked your reference. Couldn't find it? If I caused offence I do apologize but I can't find the reference.

Found the reference you refer to. Having a gang show up in front of a house to enact their justice and that gang being Connacht rugby players doesn't say much. I hope pat provides the necessary penalties.
