Just dropped. Hasn't been great recently, Tracy has been starting ahead of him at times. Herring has also been quite good recently to be fair to him.

No sign of Dawai in the Fiji team and I see from his Twitter he's in Paris with the family. Was he even called up to the squad this time?

Bent has been called up. I really hope it's because Finlay's away.

Finlay is in Oz for two weeks, so I'm guessing that would make any call up less likely.

You really didn't miss much besides about 20 scrums. Both the baabaas tries in the second half were mauled over.

Mul was grand, like I said earlier he seemed to really enjoy himself; had a big smile on his face at every break in play and was going around slapping lads on the back and chatting to everybody, but conditions were absolutely shocking so unfortunately no champagne rugby at all(despite Mul's best efforts, lined out in the centre off a couple lineouts but never got hands on the ball and also sat out on the wing screaming for the ball a couple times when the forwards were busy eeking out inches).

But Roux had 2 Connacht socks, not 1 from Western Province.
Players choice I guess

He likely didn't have any socks from whatever club he started out in with him.

I know Ryan has been the anointed one from the U20's, but he's been no more than competent for Leinster .

Sweetnam, he's no Shergar and hardly a try machine by any standard...but doesn't seem to matter if you wear Blue or Red jerseys...

Got to feel for Finlay & Denis too.....

Sweetnam’s a good player, strong in the air, evasive runner, solid defensively. James Ryan is probably the biggest prospect in Irish rugby, he’s there based on potential not neccessarily past performances.

Denis not getting picked in 2015 was extremely poor, not getting picked now is fair enough. He is behind good players and not in his best form. Findlay hasn’t been great since the title winning season either. Dillane doesn’t look especially powerful to me these days think he has been extremely disappointing recently.

O’Halloran not getting picked infuriates me but so does all the whinging about “Leinster bias”.

Do agree that the Irish rugby media is a joke, I don’t read anything by morons like Cummiskey and I’m much happier for it.

Bucks and Finlay completely outplayed the two players selected ahead of them just a few short weeks ago though...

And Killer is a penalty machine! I don't get how Joe keeps going for him.

Kilcoyne has conceded 4 penalties in 398 minutes this season, one penalty every 99.5 minutes.

Buckley has conceded 10 penalties in 546 minutes this season, one penalty every 54.6 minutes.

Think you'll find that the majority of Buckley's penalties come at the breakdown and not the scrum, unlike Killer.
What that shows is the Buckley is far more involved in a game, he's a bloody nightmare for oppo at the breakdown if he gets hands near the ball....
On top of that he's a tidy footballer, excellent hands for a prop.
His carrying is fine more speed/footwork than power, but we just use his other strengths more..

I don’t have time to respond to everything here, but if I take your point that Buckley’s penalties are mainly conceded at the breakdown, then he has conceded (let’s say) 7 penalties at the breakdown and won 4 turnovers. Anyway I wasn’t having a pop at his discipline at all just using him as a comparison to prove my point about Kilcoyne’s.
