I doubt Hayes would come and I wouldn't sign him peronally, he's gone and I can't understand why Munster have him their 23 man squads over Archer. Other than giving the crowd a lift, he offers little else at this stage.

We need a longer term solution. Maybe Ah You is it, but really can we afford to hold onto an NIQ at tighthead in the hope that he comes good in a couple of years time? Jam tomorrow aint an option here.

i understand that hayes is munster through and through but will he then retire rather than 6months or 18months here. he might love munster but they dont want him, so that doesnt mean he should quit. if he and a team coach believe he can still give then he should keep playing.

I don't know if it's a case of Munster wanting shot of him. I thought he was ready to retire at the end of last season and Munster asked him to play a little bit longer.

ya your right, very very unlikely at 38. short-term contract due to the world cup. the way the radio said it was more like he was leaving rather than retiring

Hayes was creamed in the scrum against us in the pre-season friendly against the Ireland 'B' team so do not see why he is being touted as the solution to our scrum problems. Fantastic servant to Irish rugby that he has been, he is IMO a spent force and we should not been considering him. With the exception of the Magners Final last season where he came on for the last 10 mins and Munster won a penalty try he has not looked solid in a scrum for the last 12-18 months.

I can't remember Ah You being that strong last year where people are now so disapointed with his scrummaging this year they would be willing to cast him aside. He is 23 old TH with a lot of potential and we should be doing everything we can to keep hold of the lad IMO.

With Hayes, we'd need to get him very cheap becasue he looks absolutely shot right now.

I'd like to see us maybe look to get Dave McGowan back from France, or maybe Robin Copeland (Leinster U18's, U19's, U20's. Ireland Colleges) who is going great guns in the English Championship with Rotherham, he's 24 but not massive a bit more like Macca good hands, engine and footballing brain...

A bit of a lean from the IRFU wouldn't go astray here and if we got one they might convince another one or two of the positives. I know there is the money thing but, you'd swear players were being asked to go to the moon rather than cross the Shannon when it comes trying to attract some players to Connacht.

Obviously depending on his fitness but do you think we should go after David Wallace, can't see him having much time left in the Munster first 15.

It would be great to get him but I cant see it happening, same with Strings. I do think the branch should be looking at getting in a few experienced heads though, especially those who know how to win games. They don't need to set the world alight but what we're lacking is consistency and they could definitely help us out in that department and closing out tight games, after all winning is a habit.

I think we can all see the problems that bringing in 14 new squad members in a season has done to us. Just looking at the list of when peoples contracts are up, who do people think should be let go and who should be retained for next year? Can't see us really getting a bigger squad either, especially if we are back in the ECC. By my reckoning we are going to drop maybe 5-6 players so we need to really be focused on who we bring in to improve the team.

Ah You Rodney 2012 - (Needs to start showing alot more at scrum time)
Anderson TJ 2013
Browne Andrew 2013
Buckley Dennis Academy
Duffy Gavin 2012 - (Definitely to stay on)
Fa'afil Henry 2012 - (Is he taking up a valuable NIQ spot)
Flavin Adrian 2013
Gannon Dave 2012 - (I think he should be kept on)
Grace Eoghan 2013
Griffin Eoin 2014
Jarvis Matthew Dev 2012
Kearney Mick Academy
Layden Shane Academy
Loughney Ronan 2013
Maguire Stewart Dev 2012
Matthews Keith Retired
McCarthy Mike 2013
McCrea Mark 2013
McKeon Eoin Dev 2012 - (I think he has shown enough potential to get a full contract)
McSharry Dave 2014
Moore Dave 2012?
Muldoon John 2014
Murphy Dermot Dev 2012
Murphy Frank 2013
Naoupu George 2013
Nikora Miah 2013
O'Connor Johnny 2013
O'Connor Niall 2013
O'Donoghoe Paul 2013
O'Halloran Tiernan Dev 2012 - (Definitely kept on)
Ofisa Ray 2012 - (With Grace, TJ and McKeon is he surplus now)
Reynecke Ethienne 2013
Rogers Dylan 2012 - (I think we need better)
Stevens Jamie Dev 2012
Swift Michael 2012 - (Should definitely be kept on)
Tonetti Kyle 2012 - (Jury still out)
Tuohy Brian 2013
Vainikolo Fetu'u 2013
Wilkinson Brett 2013
