How many people would be expected? Would the car park at the ground be suitable. Sound from the ground and car park would be unreal

I understand their concern about Eyre Square to be fair. They have said that they just recently planted new grass seeds there.
I agree that it should be close to town. It's definitely weather dependent though. People will watch it at home, are in pubs if the weather is manky
Yeah Eyre Square would be great, and te Pubs etc would really benefit, but the space belongs to the city and needs time to recover from the Christmas Fair....
But off the top of my head; I can think of a load of alternative locations that a screen could be set up...
- South Park,
- The Docks Area.
- The Quadrangle in NUIG (sound would be amazing),
- Salthill Park.
- Crowley Park (Galwegians RFC)
- Where the Blue Top goes for the Arts Festival
THe docks would be a good call, assuming funderland is gone between now and then. It would give people a taste for what it will be like when we have our purpose build municipal stadium down there

The cathedral carpark or black box car park should be considered perhaps?

All because of the grass.... So Irish really.
So instead of putting a big screen in the middle of town, where the pubs are, where the local business community wants it, and barely 10 minutes walk from the Sportsground, they're putting it 45 minutes further away in a suburb (albeit a very nice one).
Every time I think we've reached Peak Gobshitery, someone goes and proves me wrong.

I think the point is, if it was done for the semi and publicized correctly, then it would bring in many extra people, and the pubs (restaurants etc) would rake in extra extra cash. I do see where people are coming from though on waiting until a potential final. Maybe they can get a big screen for the semi, and a huge screen for the final...............and cheerleaders.
Well my mind has changed all of a sudden....
Do you not remember when they had cheerleaders before?
I think it was Bourgoin or Toulon in the Challenge Cup.
They had the cheerleaders out at half time (or possibly before the game).
One cheerleader was flaked up high into the sky in front of the main stand, and she landed in the perfect splits position
The whole crowd let out a massive emphatetic groan, and crossed their legs. It might have been the booze, but I think a few men even shed a tear in agony
I have a vague recollection of that but assumed it was a dream.
