In the past we havent been able to benefit from the weaker teams during the 6 nations and other times. We should be more ruthless and beating these sides. We have improved in so many areas but putting teams away and even holding out for losing bonus points when needed must be done.
Scarlets were poor and our forwards were on top all day and took their Trys well. I was a bit disappointed that with the backline on the pitch and the amount of ball that we couldnt cut them open more.
On another day we will need scores from the backs.
Great to be near the top even if other teams have games in hand. I'd rather have points in the bag than games in hand.

Anyway, Glasgow just drew with the Ospreys. What a great set of results.
It definitely wasn't foul play by Williams (on this occasion), Heals just didn't get anywhere near enough momentum going into the tackle and compounded it by going in far too high. The impact and hitting the ground with his head was the cause of concussion....
He was just unlucky really, hopefully back after the break....
Agreed, couldn't really see it from the main stand but it looked like bad technique from Heals on the big screen replay. Off topic - First time in about 5 years for me standing over on the main stand side. I'd forgotten how much it smells like curry all the time

Whilst the camera angles didn't seem to pick it up, I'm amazed that the touch judge didn't call it.
I was in the main stand and it wasn't obvious on the big screen and to be fair Healy, unfortunately, had his head in the wrong place going in to the tackle so it looked like Williams went for a fair 'bump off' and Healy just came out of it badly. But if it is bad I'm sure he'll be cited for it

clanman wrote: great result yesterday, there was a good mix of positional kicking and playing ball out of hand yesterday, I thought Tiernan didnt have a particularily good game yesterday but that was the only negative i could take out of the game. Scarlets forwards were very poor and i think the Dragons will put it up to us in 2 weeks time and will offer more of a resistance up front
Apart from one silly knock on I thought he'd a good game
Mixed up his counter attacks nicely between running and kicking (he ran it too much vs Cardiff away for example)
Also did one delicious clearance kick from his own 22

Over the years I think we've all seen some dominant efforts by our forwards where we didn't get our reward due to not having an out half capable of getting us territory from these kind of penalties. The benefit of nailing these kicks shouldn't be underestimated. Of course when it goes wrong as it did once against Enisei last week it looks bad but when it's nailed it makes all the difference.
On the flip side, the place kicking issue is still a major cause for concern as we come into the business end.

Statistically a game that Connacht shouldn't have won, www.espn.co.uk/rugby/lineups?gameId=269433&league=270557 .
But when you dominate the set piece as much as we did first half, it sets the tone for the game and the ref's attitude. We got the breaks when we needed them, especially the second half where we almost blew a lead we had spent forty minutes building in a mere five minutes. Henshaw was a mix of some very good and some very bad, but he's still in need of match time. A lot of points left behind by inaccuracy or poor decision making/wrong options.
Overall though very pleasing to get a bonus point win at home to the league leaders, especially given the horrendous mistakes made by the TMO in the reverse fixture at Parc y Scarlets a couple of weeks back - www.pro12rugby.com/matchcentre/18812.php#wqUSUkw7jrS78X3H.97 .
Revenge a dish best served cold, eh...?
