If IRFU is not involved enough to give the best centre in Ireland an expensive central contract, the first one in Connacht history, that's crap. But Franch clubs are attractive..
If the worst happen, Macken won't be available (new 2 year-deal with Wasps). It will be either a new project player, one of the surplus centre from Ulster, or (my preference) Farrell from Grenoble (contract ending in June 2017, will be 24, powerful)

Eh, no he won't. 42 a bit slow on the maths there.
Will be eligible to play for Ireland in next summer's tour to Japan/the 2017 Autumn Internationals - depending on whether the qualifying period started in June/Sept of 2014.
He didn't arrive until October I think.

Connacht's hottest property Aki in no rush to decide on future
Aki’s is now into his third and final year of his contract with Connacht and coach Pat Lam faces an almost impossible task to hold on to him with several French clubs keen to snap up with the 26-year old New Zealander.
“I haven’t spoken about anything, obviously it is my last year but I have not spoken about anything yet,” he says. “I just want to make sure I play well, do everything I can and if it all goes well then everything falls into place. But first things first.
“There is no deadline whatsoever. I just need to make sure I perform really well and continue on how I played last year and get better from there.”
He will become Irish-qualified this season and Connacht will be putting pressure on the IRFU to hold on to a special talent, but French clubs will not be daunted in shelling out and already a number of them have made enquiries.

Came in 58th min
Interestingly enough, nothing has changed from what I noticed on last year CurrieCup videos :
He is placed as FB for defensive phases, smth Pat should keep going on for a weak defender, with good field covering (look at the 74th min) and monster kick. That would mean TOH/Rowland coming into the 1st defensive line. Why not?

The downside of that is that he could be stuck playing Currie Cup until the middle of October.
Wherever it came from they clearly couldn't be bothered checking his Twitter feed, which showed posts of him rehabbing his leg something that was in the news in SA Rugby Currie Cup news back in July...
Much preferable to a player arriving with Concussion issues...

Terrible luck but I suppose it's marginally better that its not a reoccurrance of an old injury
