I may be wrong on this, but are there never ball girls? Maybe Connacht could catch up with the Catholic church with some gender balance on our altar!
Women's rugby is on the up and we should do everything to encourage it, and having mixed "ballkids" would certainly help and maybe encourage more girls to get involved.
Agreed. I'd say if someone mentioned this to the branch they'd probably do it. Good idea by the way!

I was worried Lam would give Murphy and/or Parks a start but glad he didn't tbh, didn't realise duffy was fit to play, happy that as many departing players as possible will get to play though.
A little odd to go with Griffin at 12 rather than McSharry/Griff/Henshaw 12/13/15.
Cardiff will be without Copeland but their 13 is a bit of a wrecking ball.

02nd May 2014
Connacht Head Coach Pat Lam has made just one change to his team to take on Cardiff Blues in the last home game of the season this Saturday. The in-form Welsh side sit just three points ahead of Connacht in eighth place on the league table.
Up front, Andrew Browne makes way for Aly Muldowney who slots into the second row alongside Mick Kearney.
Connacht Players’ Player and Back of the Year Kieran Marmion will wear the number 9 jersey for his 25th start this season, partnering Miah Nikora at half back.
Robbie Henshaw is named at outside centre and links up with Galway-born Eoin Griffin, who will play his final game at the Sportsground before departing for London Irish next season.
After missing out on the previous round, substitute hooker Dave Heffernan has recovered from injury to take his place on the bench.
Attention will undoubtedly be directed towards named replacements Frank Murphy, Dan Parks and Gavin Duffy who will all be finishing with Connacht at the end of the season.
Commenting on the team selection and the upcoming game, Pat Lam said:
“This is a massive game for us. Cardiff are confident coming off the back of three good wins and in contrast we’re after three straight losses. We’re both fighting for strong finishes to the season and I’ve no doubt it will be a hard-fought game.
“There is of course a lot of emotion attached to this game and it’s the last time a lot of guys will get the chance to play in front of the home crowd. It’s a great opportunity for us all to acknowledge the contribution of these true Connacht servants.
“As a team, we’ve spoken a lot this week about channelling all that emotion into doing our jobs well and putting ourselves in a position to finish where no Connacht team has finished before. “

One of our Ballboys, Patrick, received a knee injury during the warm up prior to the Munster match. We would like to let all the supporters know that he seems to have made a full recovery and should be available for selection on Saturday.
Swifty thanked all the Ballboys by handing out Easter Eggs at the last game.
We'd like to say a big thank you to the entire Ballboy squad for their hard work over the season. This Saturday, the Ballboys will be running out with the team as they take to the pitch for their final home game of the season.
They should get a round of applause at the match on Saturday for all their good work. It is always a sign they are doing a good job when you hardly notice them.

Saturday 3rd May 2014 Kick Off 17:00
This Saturday, Connacht play their final home game of the season against the Cardiff Blues. Both sides have had mixed seasons, mixing some good results in Europe with some indifferent domestic form. Neither side will be in the new European Cup next season but both will look to finish as high up the table as possible as it may be relevant for seeding for the Challenge Cup. Cardiff have picked up some decent results following the departure of head coach Phil Davies in early March and will be anxious to finish the season on a high.

Enjoy the family atmosphere this Saturday with:
Free face painting
Kids games
100 Free Ice Creams
and more…
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
All children must be ticketed to enter the stadium
Please contact Eoin Hegarty – eoin@cbirfu.com or 091 561 568 if you have already bought an individual kids match ticket.
Credit where it's due. I love the last line, taking into account people who already bought a ticket. Not many businesses can take money out of accounts so I'd expect it would be some voucher etc
It's great idea, but wouldn't it be better to have this first game of the season so kids would want to go to Next game etc
I know that connacht are giving a free trial this week and expect people will be hooked and buy a season ticket. It's a long wait till September. Hope to have big numbers. Always do in last game in fairness due to people using the free tickets from season tickets.

Does anyone have an idea has this been confirmed and I've missed it or if anyone knows when it is going to be confirmed?
Round 20 (Munster) has just been confirmed and round 22 was set ages ago as all games have to kick off simultaneously. I imagine the Cardiff game/round 21 won't be confirmed for quite a while til the TV people see how the table is panning out, but seeing as neither team are likely to be pushing for 3rd best from their country (old HEC qualification format) or 6th overall (new) I would expect no TV coverage and a Saturday 1700 kickoff.
spot on. 5pm saturday, no tv
