What's the point in having a pack that have to slug it out trying to gain penalties when we don't have a. 10 to kick them.

I've a feeling hayed will be back at Munster within 2 yes. Doc probably gone then and he will step in. Flanagan could be a good shout though if he's going well over there. As a Westmeath man life in gal way may appeal to him more than the others mentioned. Isn't he a 1st cousin of toner?

Brian Hayes or Mark Flanagan would be good pickups.. both earning their strips in france.

Hayes being a cork man and Flanagan from Mullingar.

Replied by connachtexile on topic Re: Why we should sign Tony Buckley (Yes I am serious)
For a start I am serious. A lot of you philistines think I'm crazy but it could work. He came to professional rugby late and played second row longer than prop. As for their tongue's hanging out after 20 mins you obviously haven't watched Dave in the loose much cause he's great.

As for Caldwell he was considered one of the problem players when Ulster's locker room was toxic a few years ago. Their is a reason why Ulster never tried getting him, Andress or Neil Best back and that was because of the disharmony they brought to the place. For all his skill I wouldn't want him.

P.S. To Mareegoo I was drinking Bulmers last night not Buckfast you plebeian  a man of my refined tastes hasn't drank that since my college days.

He's not been a lock for a while, far too late to restore any kind of mobility.. Keep an eye on Ryan Caldwell if you want an experienced 2nd row...

Thought it might be the 1st of April reading this. Clarke moved to an impact sub? Now that's money well spent and sure to keep him around.

I'm not sure the op is being entirely serious despite the claim in the title. In any case a 33 year old wing with a history of injury is very different to a 33 year old lock especially one that isn't even expected to jump much if at all. If Swifty and Cullen can still play there's no reason why you couldn't get a good two years out of a 33 year old lock.

We could be the inventor of the 3 man rolling maul. Lineout caught. Lifter 1 in front, lifter 2 behind. Maul moves forward american football blocker style! Carrier would be short of oxegen in that sandwich though!

The Buckley move isn't totally mad but would not happen at this point in his career I think. But its not impossible.

The Rodney move couldn't work he's much too short and not as heavy as the Conn website claims. But we have second rowers who could fill that position.

While you may be right that the scrum came under intense pressure while playing the top teams the changes in rules has improved things a lot for us, and the Saracens game is just one of a number of examples that shows that the scrum needn't be a liability any more and we can play ball carrying props and still compete at scrumtime.

I think if we could go back to the start of the 2000s and tony buckley was moved to TH lock then it might have worked... now it's far too late..
