To be fair to " THE BEAST " he gave it all in spades last season. Can't see him getting much flack when he togs out for Leinster against us. In fairness to him his commitment could not be questioned from the first to the last match of the season. How was he to know when he was negotiating his contract that Connacht were gonna get a HEC slot and maybe just maybe that might have tempted him stay for another season? Carr's performances were very inconsistent compared with his previous season , looked to me like he was a player who was minding himself , waiting for a better offer which by all accounts never came. Keats & Troy also moved on last season but no mention of them in the same light as Jamie & Fionn.

Really don't agree with this thread heading, Jamie Hagan gave us everything on the pitch when he was here, nice bloke always stopped for a chat anytime i met him. Always has positive things to say about Connacht Rugby.

Not sure if there's a bit of tongue in cheek in some of the comments I see directed his way, but I dont get the anger towards him leaving.
Fair enough, he had agreed terms to stay with Connacht, and then changed his mind. Connacht are as much to blame, for announcing that he had signed a new deal, when he didnt.

In my eyes, Fionn Carr is worse. He decided to leave Connacht, a few deals fell through, but refused to even enter talks with Connacht. He would have rather signed for a low level English team, than stay with Connacht another season.
Hagan speaks highly of his time with Connacht, and I'll applaud him when he comes back with Leinster

Two things about this, as you mentioned you first you do not announce the signing of a player unless you have actually signed the player, very unprofessional from the branch.

The second part is also wrong, Fionn Carr asked to stay at Connacht, but he was told in no uncertain terms to F off, explanation given  they had signed someone to replace him and they had no money to keep him as well, this was despite the fact that at that stage Henry had still not even been spoken too never mind been signed.  Again very unprofessional.
Be very interesting to hear Cillian Willis story, any bets its not the same as released by the branch.

Without meaning to go off topic. Are you heading to the match tomorrow with the regulars. Heading, maybe with the big ginger lad. Presume you'll be in a similiar spot as the last game?

90% sure I'm going. Will aim for the same spot as the last day.

Ok - I'm changing the Thread name, think it give off the wrong impression of what we're about as supporters. If any Connacht supporter actually really hates the lad, then they need help...and no I ain't offering.... ::) ;)

A man is only as good as his word, as they say. Hagan went back on his. Says it all.

He'll be getting a worthy reception if he's playing when he comes back with Leinster.

Keatley, Carr and Cronin are different because we knew they were going to leave as they had stated that fact.

Completely unrelated, but I found Hagan seriously head wrecking on twitter - one of the few people I've had to unfollow.

Every Leinster game I watch, I keep an eye out for the ex-Connacht boys and will them all on without exception and really delighted to see them do well.
Jamie is a fine player and I wish him the very best as should all.

Yeah it was a poorly handled mess when he moved, but I've no lingering bitterness towards Jamie personally. I hope he does great where ever he heads to.

Being honest, I think that every Connacht fan would love to see Jamie do well and get the international recognition that he deserves. Was talking to a friend of mine a while back and said that the 2 players that I would love to see playing for Connacht are Sean O'Brien and Jamie Hagan, and we were lucky to have Jamie for 2 seasons.

He will get gametime at Leinster this season, with a possible 6 Nations call up. I wish him all the best, but can't see why Ah You can't make the 3 jersey his this season

With Hagan the big issue with Leinster intially was that he felt that his face didn't fit under Cheika (like more than a few others), I think the way Joe Schmidt came in last season and the proceeded to play so many of his fringe players throughout the Season giving them opportunities probably helped Jamie feel that things had changed sufficiently enough to enable him to go back.

His moving on was going to happen at some stage if he progressed as much as we hoped and believed he could and would. He made exceptional progress with Connacht under Dan McFarlands tutalage and his (and a bunch of other forwards, Knoop, Fla, Cronin, Fogs etc, etc...) development is recognised outside the province.

I prefer to remember his contribution in the Green jersey in a positive way, and will be rooting for the lad if he pushes on to Ireland level sooner rather than later knowing that he would not have got there but for his time in the Green 'n Black...
