"I've been out to the Sportsground many times and we've had perfectly good tries taken away from us," said former Wales flanker Jones.

Dragons Lyn Jones adding his thoughts to the debate in that article! What's the collective noun for a group of perpetually moaning Welsh people?

Between the recent furore and Dean Richards comments earlier this season anyone would think we were top of the league owing to robbing other teams rather than outplaying them!

I'm still a little annoyed about the "spirit of the game" call we got against us in Glasgow this season. Not that it should have been a try for Poolman but I've never heard a ref use that to get out making an actual decision. Where was that ref from again?

Bottom line is better officiating is something we've been screaming about for years and if the standard was improved I think we would be one of the teams to benefit from it. It just really grates that so little was said after we were shafted in Cardiff last season and Scarlets this.

I did feel some sympathy for Ospreys but when the clown that is Lyn Jones weighs into the debate all you can do is

His statement below is comical:
Dragons are at Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday, where they have won just once, but Jones is undaunted.
"We can win there. We need to be positive and take our attacking game and intent to Munster and put them under pressure.
"Get the referee on our side and get those 50-50 calls coming our way, which we all see in the league sometimes influences outcomes."

There does need to be a debate about the standard of officiating in the league and the fact that there is an implication of bias before matches kick off when an Irish ref is officiating in a match between one of the provinces and a Welsh region or vice versa. However, if there is to be a debate lets have a debate on facts. The fact Lyn Jones was let away with that ridiculous statement sums up how pathetic that article was. Point out the instances where it happened and there might be a reason for a debate at that stage.

Surely there has to be some action against Jones if the Pro 12 are consistent. Here you have a coach who had nothing to do with the game on Saturday just throwing a few random accusations into the debate. He'd do well to keep out of it and look at moving Dragons up the table. Typical act of desperation by a coach who knows he has failed miserably, use all sorts of distraction tactics to take away from how poorly you are performing in your own job. By the sounds of it he'll be turfed out on his ear at the end of the season anyway.

The sad thing is that if this were Leinster or Munster there wouldn't be a word but we are a cheap target.

Jeeez, You couldn't make it up!

www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-...CID=sharebar_twitter

All because of a welsh side getting a decision made against them. :P

And what exactly, in this article, is he saying is the answer?

If there is a problem with the standard of refereeing in the league - and we can all quote the instances - then it is across the board. So what are they going to do? The argument about not having Irish Officials refereeing Irish teams (or Welsh, or Italian etc) falls flat on its face. If the incompetence is there - it doesn't matter what the nationality is. Unless he thinks the problem is only with Irish Referees?

Everyone around me, at the ground on Saturday, was amazed that Clancy gave that decision. But not because of the technicalities. It was because we never seem to get a break from an Irish referee in the Sportsground.

The article also gives the impression that the overall consensus was that it wasn't a tackle. Not so. Of course, he completely fails to mention those who pointed out to him (including a welsh referee - and some names I recognize from here) that they thought the decision was technically correct. That wouldn't suit the thesis.

Demanding action without offering a solution is useless. Lazy journalism at its worst. It amounts to nothing more than an attack piece.

And as for "Not having a go at Irish Referees" - but still the only deep analysis is focused on 2 Irish Referees? Therein lies the underlying bias.

Personally I think it would be a great idea to mix the nationality of the officials in the Pro12. But not for any perceived fairness. Just to stop this sort of xenophobia.

Rant over.......

World Rugby told me that there is absolutely no anti-Irish, racist bias on comments made in Wailsonline, or on their reporters twitter accounts.

Honestly. They just rang me out of the blue - here in work.

"Just DM me for the details.",

If I'd known he was a season ticket holder, I'd tried to nab him for an interview.

He really should have looked for asylum in Galway and then hid in plain sight amongst the Clan. What's one more mouthy bearded lunatic amongst hundreds?

wp_rathead wrote: Ospreys claim World Rugby have told them Sam Davies' 'clear and obvious' try against Connacht should have stood

It's certainly an interesting journalistic technique. It really does open almost limitless possibilities for articles. Get somebody to claim somebody said something, have them neither confirm or deny it, and then just go with it. Allow me to give it a shot:

Wails Online wrote: Clan Claim World Rugby have told them Connacht are Pro12 Champions

A guy called Pinky in the Connacht Clan has claimed that Connacht have won the league.
Connacht claimed top spot on Saturday by beating Ospreys but league officials are now claiming that each team must play six more games, and then play-offs.
"All the feedback we’ve had from World Rugby is we've won," said Pinky.
"It was a great league, but the only thing we’re talking about is the decision not to give us the cup yet.
"It was a clear and obvious victory which is frustrating. It damages the competition’s integrity and image which is the key factor in all this.
"It’s gone to World Rugby and it’s come back that we've won. They say that we've won, there are no more games. There’s no ambiguity about it. We've won."
A spokesman for World Rugby said: "I cannot confirm or deny and will not be able to establish without more details, but it would appear Pinky is some kind of raving lunatic."
"I predicted this at the start of the season," said Connachta, an expert on the matter, "but now they say we have to play six more games".

Despite having won the league, Connacht will nonetheless travel to Murrayfield on Friday to take on Edinburgh.
Victory will see Connacht Claim the William Webb Ellis Cup, according to a leaked memo between Donald Trump and ISIS, shown to Shelfife by Julian Assange in the Clan Bar.
Everyone in the previous paragraph has denied those claims, including William Webb Ellis, but we're printing them anyway.

I'm having tremendous trouble trying to embed a gif of this.

Gif

Still think it was technically the right call.

Nice to be dwelling on someone else throwing their toys out of the pram for a change.

Mind you for Ospreys tap-penalty try Webb takes the penalty in a different timezone to the mark, so it looks like the Clancy lottery evened out in the end.

Are you not allowed to take a tap penalty directly behind the mark (which he appeared to do) - so long as it's parallel to the goal line?
