Only a team like us could completely dominate a team from start to finish in a half and go in 19-6 down. Glasgow have done nothing special whatsoever yet they are cantering to an easy bonus point win. We are a joke and there's no lighter way to put it. Just not good enough.

Ffs this is so much like the return fixture it's painful. Completely dominant first 20 hopelessly undone by basic errors.

Eta: why do we still insist on running everything from our own 22? Any sort of half decent clearing kicks from toh, Marmion or carty would be infinitely preferable at the minute, and get their fat row running a bit.

poor goal kicking, lineout errors and terrible defence undoing connacht here. They were too terrible kicks at goal by Carty and losing your own lineout deep in their 22 after such effort to win it is criminal.
and that third try sums it up. It's looking like 8th I'm afraid. barring a miracle!

I probably should have said 'he's probably one of the best 9s in the league', rather than the best. But as I said, on his day (and that there is a fairly large caveat), he'd be up there. I'll be interested to see how he goes with Bath next season; Kahn Fotuali'i has been a bit hit and miss for Saints this season, but Matawalu may prosper with the kind of players he'll have around him with Bath.

Don't think either player is up to it in a game like this but I probably would have given the slight edge to Nikora. The rest of the team looks fine. Dillane has done well any chance he's got so I'm hopeful he can do well tomorrow. Unfortunately the injury list is extremely long at this stage so we look a bit short in some areas but still have a couple of impact players. We haven't been in great form and traditionally don't finish the season strong against a Glasgow side on a mission but still we've got to have hope for tomorrow.

Can't emphasise the need to get on the front foot from the start enough.

Hoping against hope for a favour from Zebre this evening. In reality if they can deny Edinburgh all 5 points I'll be happy. I think we'll know a lot more about where we will finish this time tomorrow.

Yeah, not much in it between Carty and Nikora this year so if you think it would be 30 points with Carty than I'd say it might be 27-32 points with Nikora starting at 10. That kind of losing margin will only happen if Connacht fail to play to their strengths. I hope it has been drilled into both outhalves that any loose kicking will not be tolerated as it has been mentioned, plays right into Glasgow's hands. Any kick better find touch or a lot of green space. Best to keep possession of the ball and keep it tight and hope it's all still to play for going into the last 10 minutes.

Yes students are concessions. I presume you need to show student ID at the gate.

Steady on, it's not like there was much choice with Ronaldson injured.

Nikora ran the game well offensively in the first half but his "tackles" on Payne, Ludik, and Cave cost us the first try and should have cost us a second had Ulster not uncharacteristically butchered the chance. His hopeless clearance in the second half, failing to make the 22 despite the breeze behind him led directly to Bowe's try, after which he was immediately called ashore.

I know Jack isn't playing well but one player will not cause us to lose by 30 points. And with Craig injured Jack was always likely to start.

Conor Murray, Eoin Reddan, and Rhys Webb would disagree hugely. Brilliant sniper with a wicked step and a decent pass but no way is he up there with the three of those guys in terms of running a game for 80 minutes

As a Glasgow fan I'm pretty happy with our team. I don't think we have a truly strongest starting 15 but can't argue with many choices.

Niko has never been our first choice starting 9 but is dangerous (in equally good and bad ways) from either 9 or 11. Pyrgos is not long back from injury so needs game time.

Johnny Gray as captain is interesting- is already far better and has far more potential than Richie ever did.

Here's hoping for a good game.

I'd agree Matawalu can be a joy to watch, when he's on form, but when he blows cold, he can be a liability. On his day, he's probably the best 9 in the league and is a natural footballer.

Matawalu is the one player in the league you could probably play from 9-15 and expect a performance from him, serious talent. Even with those players out they're a dangerous proposition in the back.
Kick loose to any of that back three (particularly Hogg) and we won't be long lining up under our posts, but that front five can be got at if we're on our game
