I think we should make a point of getting our guys to play for Connacht clubs make it a contract stipulation or something if we want the game to grow in the province we need the AIL clubs to do well.

attended the buccaneers v dungannon ubl game last night at dubarry park. didnt get a team sheet as i was late but kearney and qualter were in 2nd row and heffernan and grace at 6 and 7. dolan and carty were the half backs and leydon was on wing.

they were massively overpowered in the scrum and at the breakdown and dungannon were deseved 26-12 winners. the crowd was very small at under 100 and this was on a night that buccs were running a fundraing dinner which included match ticket priced at 25 euro afaik.

worryingly 4 of the 5 connacht senior teams lost this wkend and connemara and sligo seem to be really struggling.
meanwhile connacht contracted loxton scored a try for shannon. u wonder why hes not with a connacht club.

Did we get many lads in the national age grade talent squads at Clongowes next week? Does anybody know?

Feck sake stop bullsh*tting, you're wrong so take it on the chin.
He left Shannon at the end of last season (his last Senior game for Shannon was at the end of March in a loss at home to Cork Con) and started playing for Sligo again in the CSL this season.

Parata is from cork. was a munster youth last season and was advised poorly IMO as he moved to rockwell in nov/dec 2011 yet wasnt picked for their senior cup squad.
He is a fine player, son of a new zealander, who likes to play off the cuff and plays a nice open style of rugby.

Dunno if this is the right place for this but anyway:

Connacht U19's claim inter-pro title

Connacht U19s were victorious against Leinster U19s in the Inter-provincial Play off final after a hard fought, nail biting 20-15 win.

Rory Paratta kicked Connacht into a 3-0 lead after 10 minutes following some solid work from the Connacht pack. Leinster tied the score 5mins later after some scintillating running from their backline carved through the Connacht defence.

Rory Paratta pushed Connacht another three points ahead 10 minutes from half time and Ian Costigan was unlucky not to score after a superbly weighted kick from Paratta deep into the Leinster 22.

Leinster then began a period of dominance with Connacht defending bravely until the stroke of half time when Leinster scored a penalty try following another dangerous backline attack.

Connacht were aided by the wind in the second period but it was Leinster who started the brighter again running dangerously from deep. Connacht began to exert territorial pressure through the boot of Caolan Blade, Ben Carty and Rory Paratta and the pressure eventually told when, with 15 minutes left in the game, Ben Carty sliced through the middle to hold off two tacklers before dotting down by the posts, Rory Paratta converted stretching Connacht’s lead to 13-8 just 10 minutes left.

Leinster immediately responded with a well worked try from Centre Peter Robb under the posts. That left the score at 15-13 to Leinster with less than seven minutes left but Connacht refused to buckle and came roaring back at Leinster. That attack was turned over on Leinster’s 22 and from the resulting counter attack Leinster roared up the pitch. It took a huge tackle by Andrew McAleer to force a fumble and some confusion in the Leinster ranks which Ian Costigan took advantage of to score in the corner. Rory Paratta converted leaving the score at 20-15 and through Leinster battered the Connacht defence for the final three minutes, they were unable to breach the line and the ferocious defensive line held tight for Connacht to claim the 2012/13 U19 inter-provincial title.

He's 20/21 you'd think that at this stage he'd be at least in the academy if he was going to make it. Unless he gets signed soon i wouldn't rate his chances.

Connacht club and school watch was created by rossie
i thought that a thread on this topic could be useful especially now that we are in the B+I cup.

people can post how their team has done over the weekend and also about up and coming players etc who have the potential to play for connacht. i know that i hadnt heard of fafita before he signed for example. it doesnt have to be confined to the province although some relevence is desireable.
