Just to make a few quid to cover expenses why not sell some raffle tickets to win some Connacht or clan gear. again KISS and just sell 100 tickets a €1 or 50 at €2 and do a draw for a jersey or hoodie, we could do this at a few matches and perhaps make a few hundred euros.
true its only small money, but the might oak grows from the tiny acorn.
I personally wouldn't mind buying a ticket for €2 in a limited draw for a jersey, if the idea took off you could have multiple draws for gear at each home match.
I think the stall is a great idea -with a poster saying "sign up here for free membership" or similar. Get people to simply write their name and email address and they can be contacted in following weeks. A stall could be at st holders gig next week and at first home game- would need permission from Connacht I assume.

Could do that as well I suppose. The idea with the bank transfer was two-fold.
1) To facilitate our ex-pat brothers (S_P) and sisters (ummmm,).
2) To avoid handling cash.
In order to track the transfers I was just going to ask everyone to put their name in the transaction description.
Are people okay with Matt Healy then as our sponsored player?

He is available and fits the bill (as much as we can).
Regarding collecting the money, we can give the Connacht Clan bank details to those willing to partake. How does that all sound?

So player sponsorship is usually a private agreement between Connacht Rugby and the sponsor. This is so that players are not aware of how much they are being marketed at, and they are not aware of not/being sponsored up until the start of the season. This is there to protect fragile egos.
As such Connacht Rugby have asked us NOT to release a list of unsponsored players.
However the list is short at the minute, and if you want to sponsor an Irish player it is shorter. Also we want to sponsor a back as they have more of a chance of getting over the line, but also a back that will have a few shots as well. So we have a player in mind... Matt Healy.

Bit of a bummer for me, I used to use that to pick the places to list on the app map of Galway.
I also didn't know Bar 8 had closed, I'll remove it from the list. Tamarind used to sponsor Keatley and then Fets. I know they've re-opened recently, so if someone can let me know if they sponsor a player this year I'll add them back to my list.

seen that exeter (i think) do it. would be handy to have a player who doesnt make the team (if injured) for games away to munster or any of our 3 away heineken cup games to pop around to whichever bar were meeting in, in galway and he could talk about the game at half time.
im also nearly sure the player hands over a signed shirt (could be wrong here) which the clan could either sell of, or raffle to people who have given money! money from this would go into next years player sponsor.
if we did collect more then needed, id suggest keeping this to one side for next year,
also some had a good idea of €20 gets you 1 vote, €50 3 votes and €10 half a vote.
if someone hands over €10 and is told he only gets half a vote, wouldnt be surprised if they were unhappy. €10 1 vote. €20 2 votes. €30 3votes etc etc
id aim for a big player, player who would be near starting every game.
i wasnt at the wasps game so i dont know who is left!
