Gilroy comes in to win his first full cap on the left wing after impressing in the previous game against Fiji in Thomond Park and will team up in a back three that includes Simon Zebo at full back, winning his third cap and Tommy Bowe on the right wing.
Gordon D'Arcy and Keith Earls will continue their centre partnership while Jonathan Sexton has recovered from the tight groin he suffered in the warm up for the Fiji game and starts at ten. Sexton is just two points off notching up 250 for Ireland.
The forwards selection is the same that lined out for the opening game of the Guinness Series with Richardt Strauss winning his second full cap in the front row.
Among the replacements, Donncha O'Callaghan could make his 90th appearance for his country if he is called into action.
The team will be captained by Jamie Heaslip for the third consecutive game in the Guinness Series.

Basically Heaslip doesn't conform to how they like to see a rugby player behave, his persona is a bit of a chilled out dude rather than a wall head-butting Neanderthal so if he's not in camera every second of every game the say he's blocking other better Irish No.8's for the jersey. It's mainly Munster driven to get PO'M the job, (plus ça change)...
Jaysus I didn't realise we had a Kieran Reed, Parisse or a Harinordoquy floating around the AIL, cause they sure as hell ain't playing in the Provincial sides that's for sure...
The best Number Eight currently playing in Ireland is our own George Naoupu, comfortably...

Was gutted when I saw him down after the try. Such a legend, and for his own sake, I hope that he is alright. "The Peoples Champion"

The score gives no indication of Samoa's dominance. 3 tries to 1 (and that one for Wales an intercept). Samoa also missed either 4 or 5 kicks at goal compared to Wales' single miss.
Yep watched the game in full last night on BBC2 Wales, the Taffs looked scared of contact frankly certainly for the first half an hour. The Samoan back-row were outstanding putting in some enormous hits, our old winger Ofisa Treveranus literally broke Richard Hibbard with a tackle and had George North terrified any time the ball came near him.

#WAL slip to 8, #SAM up to 9. So:
6 #ARG,
7 #IRE,
8 #WAL,
9 #SAM,
10 #SCT.
If ireland lose to argentina and samoa lose to france by less than 15 then they replace us in the top 8 afaik.
