Brive won 15-11 to end Welsh and English representation in both European competitions which is kind of ironic given they were the top 2 in the 6n but there you go. Would actually have liked to see a Scarlets victory, important for the Rabo at least one/two of the regions keep making progress.
I know what you are saying Dummy Pass but by my reckoning Bath will be the beneficiaries if this comes to pass or if not them Wasps or London Irish. France are capped at 7 even if they win both competitions which is a decent possibility with the Challenge Cup already wrapped up.
All we can say for certain is Dragons can't qualify for the HC next season bar off the field matters intervening and we'll have to see whether a replacement team is sourced for Aironi and how that will play out.
However on a side note we are now up to 25th and ahead of Dragons for example. If we were to be in the Heineken next year we'd be a good shout for 3rd seeds but the flip side of that is there are going to be some big teams in the Challenge Cup next year so we'd probably be 2nd seeds in any group there.
Just getting in the HC is beneficial as you pick up 1 ranking point even for finishing bottom of the group.

It has nothing to do with runners up. If there are two French winners, one spot will go to the highest ranked non qualifier, which would currently be Bath.

But No 3rd Scottish team so as 2 Irish in the SF's guaranteed 4th Irish province as none of the AVIVA Premiership "we need more representation or we are going to throw our toys out of the pram" not progressing beyond the QF's despite having 7 teams in the comp this year.

I'm afraid that's not how it works.
If union quotas are filled, the last spot goes to the best ranked non qualifier. That might not necessarily be us, it would probably be an English team

Guaranteed French winner of the Amlin if Brive win v Scarlets so they already have their extra side included, no matter who wins the HEC the last space will go to Connacht.
