Ray knew when he was selected for Samoa what the implications are. I imagine that with all he's done for Connacht it must have been a gut wrenching decision.

Maybe in hindsight he'll regret such a short appearance cost him his Connacht place, but it was a risk he was willing to take in order to play for his country in the RWC. I'm sure he was hopeful of a number of games. I can respect that.

Ray has been an incredible player for Connacht and also for the young guys coming through. TOH said that the two players he never wanted to annoy in training are JOC and Razor, such is their commitment to getting the best out of everyone around them.

I hope he gets a contract in a nice shiny southern French area.

Seriously, with Ray and Keith Matthews leaving this year, I think some kind of acknowledgement of their contributions from the fans would be great.

It's really quite sad, and all for one lousy cap gained in a half of a Pacific Cup game. I know it is a players greatest aspiration to play for their country, but dammit to hell we could have him for another two years at least without that forty minutes against Tonga. In fact Ray was definately worth an Ireland A cap at least back in 08/09 which would have sorted out a lot of stuff, who knows he may have pushed on to a full cap as well.

Really hope he gets a couple of years with a decent club, wonder if Bruce Farley's club Grenoble are in the market/ They'll be Top14 next season, and Rayzor would be well able for it as long as he stays healthy...

I think he's a player with potential and he's very highly rated in Munster/AIL circles but the management just don't seem to rate him and his track record with injuries isn't great. I'd prefer him to be staying than another player who is contracted in the backrow but unfortunately we are tied down to contracts with others.

With respect to him I don't think he wants to wait around for B&I Cup games either and he shouldn't be playing them type of games anyway with young players like Conneely looking for gametime to help his development.

If nothing else he could do a job in the B & I games.

I think Grace is underestimated. I'd hold onto him. We're not going to see much more of JOC, and Grace has the potential to push Willie Faloon for a starting slot.

He's third choice behind JOC and razor. Can't imagine he'll be anything more than third choice behind JOC and Faloon. Not sure that's grounds to release him though, he has done a job when asked and a few weeks ago was the highest tackler of the week. He puts himself about, he has potential, and could be JOC's replacement after next year.

You'll find that the 2nd year was an option that Connacht could take up if so needed. Grace has done alright but never seemed to be in EE's plans and for that reason it makes sense for him to leave as he's just money been p*ssed away.

I presume grace is on the way out too, if we were thinking of keeping him he'd have got more opportunities. Heffernan and Conneely can step up to the mark if needed as well so we don't really need him on the wage bill.

all the press releases at the time of his signing said a 2 year deal but i heard elsewhere that because of the injury he was bringing with him the contract was being reduced to 1 year.
