In the english soccer league, you have to include all season ticket holders as part of the official attendance whether they're there or not. This is because the away team is guaranteed a percentage of the gate money. Dunno what the rules are in the RabidDirect

Good crowd for the first game of the season also much more importantly it was an enjoyable game to be at. Some serious banter in the clan terrace two beauty's when the ref was giving us a hard time some lad shouted out

"you know your supposed to change sides at half-time ref"    :)) and when the P.A announce that there should be no pitch invasion the same lad piped up "we swear we won't touch him"

the atmosphere was definitely enough to convince people to return

Sounds like a great crowd to me for a Scarlets game. Obviously it would be great to build on it, but for a great start I thrilled that the number was so high. :)

I was happy enough with the crowd considering our average in the past few years for this type of game would be about 1500 or even less. This game last year hadn't much more than a thousand. I think the evening games will bring in bigger attendances. Today was a good starting point and the numbers and atmosphere will improve.

With the weather and RWC coverage, u21 hurling final etc. there were other distractions.

Its a results business, another decent outing against Edinburgh, hopefully a win and I'd imagine the place will be packed for the Dragons.

Attendance was well ahead of any previous first day home matches:
2010 - 1371
2009 - 1982
2008 - 829
2007 - 1141
2006 - 1587
2005 - 1800
2004 - 2137
2003 - 1200
2002 - 2500
2001 - 1800

That's a good point of reference.  Thanks for posting this.

It was 3400, not 3800.  Hope to see around 4000 or more for the next home match.  Everyone bring a friend (or two)!

The noise was pretty awesome, can't wait for a full house.

Ah in fairness I was in the Clan Terrace and the crowd did look around the 3000 plus mark, not sure how full the clan terrace was but the Main stand terrace was full, a few stragglers behind the goals and here and there....

3800 is not a bad start to the season its way better than 1200 or so that we would have prob got last year!!

And after 2 wins in a row, the crowds will get bigger!!

I'd say that's the case. Pretty much everyone does that. Treviso always have exactly 5000.

Attendance of just over 3,800 today versus Scarlets.  Not bad, but we need better.  What's it going to take, guys?

3408 Official attendence, very decent start for home games.

Wonder what method of Calculation they're using? Seemed less on TV, maybe they are doing what Leinster & Munster do and basically count all season ticketholders (regardless of attendence) plus any matchday tickets....

Can you pay for my flight over?  :D

Ah, in all seriousness, that's a great start. I don't know how the Eyre Square meet went, but if it was busy then that'll get people talking.

The atmosphere was totally different on the TV than I've seen before. The Clan did their bit and it really came across in the broadcast.
