So why as head coach, has Eric not passed on all his experience to our current 10s ???? That should not be just for a player that has just signed for the Franchise.

You lucky B*stard!

Read the Telfer article I like this part

"I don't know the exact circumstances of him retiring, but he's a very nice bloke and a great influence on players. He's a good rugby strategy man, which is probably why Robinson had faith in him.

A guy like that could be a very good influence, an old head whose seen it all. If you think about it we haven't has a veteran Outhalf since Elwood or McHugh.

Yeah I have to say that I thought that Robinson handled that situation pretty poorly. Parks obviously felt like he was getting shafted, and Robinson, instead of re-assuring him, told he made the right decision. Seems like a bitter ending to me.

Hardly graceless, you're presuming Parks was going to be pushed despite him saying that it was his own decision to stay on for this game after considering retriring after the RWC and therfore in all lilkeyhood his own shout not to continue....

TheGuardian wrote: Robinson said: "I have really enjoyed working with Dan. He wasn't in my first Scotland squads, but through his own determination, hard work, skill and competitive spirit he forced his way back into selection.

"It's never an easy decision to make, but I feel Dan has made the right decision and thank him for his contribution over the years."

He picks him at 10 on Thursday for the opening game of the 6 nations and then says on Monday he feels it's the right decision. Extremely graceless and Robinson looking to put the loss on him.

Jim Telfer gave a good account of Robinsons failure to stand by his outhalf a couple weeks ago:

This article is months old and was a really badly kept secret.

But there wasn't a hint of Nathan Whites signing until it happened.

Funny how things go.

This has been dragging on for ages without any concrete details - a tweet here, a sighting there, but nothing from the branch. I still hope it will happen. He's not perfect, but he can kick his points, drop a goal, and his passing is good enough (see his pass at the weekend for the Cardiff try). The fact that he has retired from international duty is a plus too since we'd have him all year.

Dan Parks will bring a lot of experience to Connacht, and he's a likeable bloke. He'll be good for a few points, and help develop a lot of young promising Connacht players. All those selectors can't be wrong, who for many years have had him in their teams. He's played 67 times as the Scottish number 10, which is a record. He's not perfect, but who is? Well done, the Connacht rugby officials for getting him over there.

i was trying to justify signing a goalkicking 10 with three 10s currently on books when i suggested noc at 12 on occasion and ditto for jarvis at 15.

In relation to comment about responsibility for goalkicking being removed from 10 damaging to theyre confidence i dont see how regularly missing kickable kicks can be good for anyones confidence. Our current options at 10 badly need that responsibility taken from them if they are to play with confidence in the position. Trouble is there is noone currently in squad capable of taking on that responsibility for them.
