As heroic losses go this was way up with the best of them.

Some positives from this display. Hate to pick on players but Carty missing the kick to draw the game at 29 all was extremely poor. Why does he have to go high with his kicks all the time?

If KK wants to manage a team chasing the 'moral victory' trophy, then he's at the right place that's for sure. But moral victories count for nothing. Second counts for nothing. Winning is the only thing that matters. If a team doesn't culturally think like that, then this season is going to be death by a thousand cuts.

We cannot afford to be a 75 minute team - we have to be an 85 minute team. If not, then getting beaten in the last few minutes of games will become par for the course for Connacht this season. Can't help hearing ' Try Again. Fail again. Fail better' words ringing in my ears every time I see Connacht these days becuase we do seem to find the best ways to 'Fail again' :(

Need to bloody win some games quickly!!!!

Maybe Ili/Healy for Kelleher, the latter looked good in attack, but defensive issues... Can he turn it like Niyi did?

McKeon was immense yesterday, especially in the first half. There seemed to be a much better balance about the 2nd and back row. With the scrum and line-out going well we might see this setup again.

You'd say I'm obsessed with ball-carrying forwards, but I think that's our main issue, even if it's "unseen" in global stats.
So I isolated the forwards figures :

for the game vs Cardiff
112 "runs" 116 meters gained 1 meter gained in contact average
for the game vs Glasgow this ratio was only 0.7

Yesterday, mainly because of McKeon, the ratio was 2 meters gained average, it was 2.2 m against Kings. And it was way better

Yeah , with a little bit more composure in the closing few minutes of the last couple of games we could of had an extra 5 points.

shoulda coulda woulda .... if they get a point away to Ulster and 4 at home to munster that would put them in a good place considering the start they had.

Very positive performance. However, apart from the loss of a losing BP, missing the conversion for the last Connacht try was unforgivable. You could see the heads drop and imo the self belief to hold out went with it. Getting the basics right instills confidence. Missing a sitter does the exact opposite! (especially after last weeks collapse)

In general much happier with performance and optimistic we will turn this around!

Magpie wrote: What a game of rugby, Tom Farrell, McKeown, TO'H, Butler, Heenan were very good and we looked more like the team of old. We had an excellent line-out, solid scrum, and good line speed. We missed a few tackles, but most do against Scarlets, we off loaded well and were very close to 3 points.

I felt the the substitutions were correct, but could have happened earlier, especially Blade and Leader who were erratic.

Defense at the end there was shocking, and I worry every time we score as we don't seem to know how to receive restarts.

That was a hugely promising performance.

Was not expecting to get anything pre game but it was such a loose game by both teams there was times I thought we could get the win.
A little concerned how we finished out tonight on the back of the Cardiff game.

That was a hugely positive performance/ So it was disappointing not to get the losing bonus point. But I really don't care. We played really well and that is good. I was beginning to worry that we can play decent rugby these days

Losing the extra bonus point was absolutely sickening ....

That said the performance was a lot better and our set piece is looking really strong based on the last couple of games, which was an issue for the previous 10.

I think while there were lots of positives there were countless silly mistakes, they say do the things that take no skill well, we'll they're the things we seem to be doing poorest, the defence also is worryingly poor, but going forward we looked good, hopefully we can settle into a rough starting 15 so players can start to gel better

Disappointed, but pleased to feel disappointed. Had vague hopes of a BP, but not that one.

Delighted with that half! To get the negatives out of the way early is defence is as poor as ever but going forward we have grown back them teeth from 2015-16. I still think we will come up short but I really hope at a minimum we achieve a TBP nothing less than we deserve!
