Phew!!!

I didn't see it but sounds like it was an encouraging performance, albeit given the quality of opposition.

I think looking at the table to date and the performances of the other teams, top 6 would be a hell of an achievement for us.

The other provinces plus Glasgow, Cardiff and Ospreys look pretty competitive really.

Ulster next is going to be huge.

Thought Robb was huge for us and gave us a lot of what we were missing in the first few games. Him and Heenan, Roux, Carey and Buckley were excellent but the energy and work effort of the entire team was up hugely. Lineout as noted is a big problem, hopefully Cannon has experience running it as things are badly misfiring especially on defensive lineouts in our own half for some reason. Injuries really started to stack up last night and if we've any hope of stringing some results together we can't afford for any of those to be long term.

Of course work to be done
20 % missed tackles
38% stolen lineouts
16 turnovers conceeded.

But Heenan, Robb, Roux, Carey are just back and can only be on the upward curve
Poolman, Ili, Browne, SOB, Cooney are close te be and should help us hugely in our weak areas
Hope Buckley is ok, scrum is our basement for now...

Last year our exit strategy was to run it, it still is. We make yards, side to side, bit of pick and go, then the opening appears and someone makes a half break, sometimes it just doesn't quite work. Now most are out of position and it is time to clear the lines, but we force it, go again and get caught. It is this little decision that is costing us, it cost at least 10 point last night, probably all 15 if they guys are honest.

Toolis caused all sorts of trouble in the lineout, i don't think the darts were very bad, he just had the reading of them.

We looked to be getting tired around the hour mark. Good to see Loughs and Connnolly make a impact after the Edinburgh try. We needed a few lads to stand up at that point and they did.

Jack had a very good game. Those few kicks into the corner put some manners on their back 3. Well done lad, well done.

We got away with conceding last night as Edinburgh are a poor outfit but we will get hammered against better opposition. We have to work so hard for our own scores without conceding soft ones! Sometimes a clearing kick to touch is OK.

Anyone any thoughts as to why line-out is misfiring so much. That's two games in a row we lost a significant number of our own throw in ball.

Agree with positives mentioned previously.

I think Muldowney used to call the line-out, the throws look to be accurate, it seems that the other teams are just able to predict who the jumper will be and get in front.

I hope they have a look at exit strategies soon, not kicking is getting too predictable, I think Muldoon caught most of the restarts yesterday, but he was also the man tackled with the ball, he was catching them cleanly so if they'd been ready he could have passed to one of the quicker, more agile players to try to run it out.

Heenan with a stupid pen but oh my god 1-hand-pass + volley pass on the same action within 5 sec for our 2nd try!

Conor Carey was very involved in defensive duties too
I'd start him with Bealham switched to LH, Joe's way
Maybe, with Loughney on the bench, let's give Saba Meunargia/Conan O'Donnell a chance rather than J.P..

You can only beat what's in front of you and I thought we were by far the better team this evening. Seemed to have and energy and confidence that has being lacking.
Positives - Carey was excellent and looks to be a good signing
- Kelleher seems to be developing nicely
- Carty was excellent from play esp for kelleher try
- Roux was great put in a top notch performance that often goes unnoticed as not the fancy stuff
- Robb and Bundee seem to work well together.

Negatives
- Injuries !

Definite improvement, long way from where we need to be but 5 points and 0 for Edinburgh is a step forward. Edinburgh were desperately poor though and I see them struggling this season on what I've seen so far. Few injuries mounting ahead of next week too. Buckley a big worry. Ulster will require a big step up on tonight but for the moment at least we're up and running and hopefully we can take it on from here.

I am also interested in a place to watch this in London as i always have difficulty getting TG4 on my laptop. I have, in the past, been successful getting the Crown in Cricklewood to let me watch rugby in the small bar. I will give them a ring.

I will be in central London for this one anybody know where I can watch it?
Just have a feeling that the penny is going to drop this evening and everything is going to fall into place and would hate to miss it.

Exciting team.

We are what 4 games into the season now and we are at home, so I think it is not asking much from fans to expect a serious response by the guys now and take a win here and build on it.

I really hope Carey goes well. As said, we need our signings here to be good because White is gone and there is a decent change Finlay will be involved with Ireland.

Fingers crossed for this one. I don't even want to contemplate another loss.
