I don't think we could afford to sack Lam and hire another coach. We are in a lot of trouble when things start to go wrong on the pitch. We can be magic at times and then woeful for longer. Lam was under pressure from the start with no backs coach and no defense coach. Backs coach now in but were still shocking more than good. Is it all at his feet though ??
No leaders on the pitch!! No plan B!! No consistency in selection (partly because of injury) not playing players in correct positions.
The excuse of our players not being the best is absolute scutter!!!
Marmion Heenan Clarke White Swift (although slowing a bit) Henshaw TOH Griffin Mcsharry(only back) are bloody good players not to mention Pooleman.
We have great players. We have no leadership from the coaches which is leading to no leadership from the players which leads to the horrendous beatings.
I don't blame Lam I think he took a poison chalice. He hasn't the man power (back room staff) so he is on a loser from the start.
I am a sad connacht supporter but I still support. I love my team. I love that we are the underdogs. I want us to be great !! We are in a lot of ways. Something needs to change!!!!! Rant over

I'll get lambasted for this, but Lam has to go

We're rudderless, spineless, any other word you can think of.

He doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't have any gameplan, his assistant arrived a few weeks. It's a shambles.

Eric was limited in terms of gameplan but at least we stood for something. The players played for him because his passion is what we are and should always be about.
Lam didn't even attend the Buccs v Corinthians match where between academy and development there were 17 Connacht contracted players playing.

We've have a better squad now, our younger players are getting more experienced. Our recruitment has been good. Yet it's worse we're getting. So what's the common denominator? It's time to cut our losses. Pat is not up to it

Honest question. I don't want to get into a Lam in / Lam out thread but its been obvious for a long time now that we are too easy to play against. We know we no longer have a defence coach and we are aware of the budgetary issues so Lams' hands are tied to a certain extent but what can be done to make us more difficult to play against?

I appreciate Lam is trying to change our style in attack but despite that we are the lowest scorers in the league despite having played a game more than half the teams. No matter how much good ball in hand rugby we might eventually play if everything starts to click you can't be conceding the sort of scores we have been and expect to win any match.

The starting point for every team has to be defensively and at present we are conceding an abundance of tries to fairly average sides and the tries conceded really would be frowned upon at AIL level.

43 points against Ospreys, 43 tonight, 25 against Scarlets minus 10 players etc. etc.

Last season we conceded 422 in 22 league games(average 19.2 points per game) Already this season we are averaging 24.8 per game and we have yet to travel to the likes of Ulster, Munster, Ospreys, Glasgow etc. which is sure to increase that average closer to 30.

Is there someone who we could use the So'oialo money saved on to bring in even a part time defence coach? I know that money probably won't be seen again but if Lam is to remain then what are we going to do differently. The coach at Corinthians is doing superbly. I don't know a huge amount about him but could he be brought in even on a part-time basis to assist the coaching team?

From talking to some loyal supporters recently, most people are disillusioned at present and all the hard work that has gone in over the last few years could all count for nothing unless this slide is arrested. I know we lost 13 or something in a row under Eric but it was our first HC season and there was a bit of novelty with the Clan Terrace and we knew we had a lot of poor players in all honesty but this side is much better than that side and should be judged on that basis.
