Hope you don't mind! I actually meant to add it the same as you had at the bottom of the post but that's where it appeared. I can change it!!
No, no...I like it. And that's what we want, really. Hoping all members of The Connacht Clan will display this badge proudly and spread the word. Be sure to stock up on t-shirts, hoodies, and other great forthcoming gear that will bear this official badge.

Nice use of the brand-spankin'-new Connacht Clan badge as your avatar, DaSpecialOne!

In general I'm not in favour of songs being written for sports events. Some things are better off just being part of the evolution of the game, rather than imposed. Just look at Ireland's Call. I agree completely with the reasoning behind it, but it's a bloody awful song and not something fans feel comfortable belting out. No one ever spontaneously bursts into the chorus in the middle of a game.
Better off trying to lead a few sing-alongs and discovering what sticks and going with that.
Something for on the buses though would be cool.

Hi, SpecialOne...welcome to the forum!
The song contest is ongoing. Just need to get the word out more. The plan is to have entries whittled down to the final three or four by close to midseason, then have a battle of the bands to decide the winning song.
Also, I like the idea of something "Haka-like." My opinion is that it should be something of our own, though...something genuinely Irish. We're building our own tradition here. Good idea.
What about something like this!
or this!

I do agree with this. Most of what we fans will be singing at the games will be spur-of-the-moment type things, and that's as it should be. If we get a dozen or so entries with a few really brilliant songs for the battle of the bands, though, I think it would be cool to have our own theme song.

Does anyone know if they have had any luck getting songwriters to pen a new song for Connacht?
Another thing I was wondering is if it would be possible to get a group together to do a Haka (In Irish!) before one of the games?

We want the biggest crowd ever for a non irish Rabo match, it is so important to the guys on the pitch.
This is where we, The Connacht Clan, come in. What are we going to do this week to meet the challenge issued by our head coach? Any suggestions / ideas / brainstorming welcome.
