I don't know that Schmidt would definitely bring Copeland but being able to allegedly play from 4 to 8 makes him excellent cover and could be used to cut down on squad size if necessary.
Also sentences can carry over into the next season so in this case at least the short ban definitely benefits Munster. A small amount of digging shows a Pat Barriscale is a barrister from a law firm in Limerick and George Spotswood was been employed by the IRFU from 1979 until 2005 and remains a part of their own disciplinary panel.

Yes he brought him over for the A game (were he was one of the better players) but like I said before, his disciplinary record is dismal. With someone like Schmidt who essentially wants no penalties given away in any game I can't see Copeland who can be a penalty machine being brought to Argentina. It's nice that he has the option but Copeland could have really f*cked himself by getting another card and a red at that. Can't see Schmidt being too impressed with him. Copeland could find himself going to Georgia rather than Argentina after that incident.

econdly, the entire disciplinary committee was Irish, so the concern about an Irish stitch-up remains. It's not like we don't have previous (POC on Kearney, Jennings/Fogarty on Flavin, etc. and so on).
In that case definitely an Irish stitch-up!

connachtexile wrote: Williams red was his second bookable offence of the game which is why he got a red. He was trying to slow ball down. Also Copeland as he plays for Cardiff would have been dealt with by the WRU not us. Also if you go on to the exiled players thread here you can see a video of the stamp. It was reckless rather than malicious so was on the low end of the scale. That said with Copeland's disciplinary record I'm surprised it wasn't more.
No, and no.
Firstly, Williams red was for a second yellow, but his citing was for one of the offences only i.e. the citing commissioner deemed one of the yellows worthy of a straight red.

Perhaps there should be a separate minimum penalty for a stamp to the head as its obviously much more dangerous. Ian Evans got 12 weeks because he ripped McCarthy's face apart but in light of this hearing you wonder would he only have gotten 3-4 if the injury hadn't had been as bad?
I understand why Williams got his red in game, but the rabo link states that
'...the independent citing commissioner at the match cited Liam Williams for the dangerous tackle, in effect upgrading the yellow card to a red card.'
Maybe I phrased it badly but what I was trying to say is I didn't see the tackle but it must have been pretty bad considering this information.

Not impressed with that at all, a stamp especially to the head has to be punished with more than two weeks. I really hope this wasn't an Irish disciplinary committee making sure Copeland was available for the Irish tour if he was required. Didn't see Williams dangerous tackle but as the independent citing commissioner at the game upgraded it to a red card offense after the game it must have been pretty bad.
eta: will update thread later with fairplay league figures when rabo update their site. Blues had a citation already this season so should be on two but currently only shows one.

F Murphy vs munster away 27 december
didnt white get a yellow for reacting to a tap on the back in some scrum? im missing someone.
interesting also that in the pro12, the team playing against us has recieved 7 yellow cards
Good to see there are no repeat offenders though oddly, at least to me, all three scrumhalves have contributed one card each. Quite a feat considering the amount of game time Murphy has had this season.
And Nathan white in munster match making it 3 tighthead also getting yellow cards
