We were led to believe that there was going to be a unique HEC jersey, as befits our first HEC campaign. We won't ever have a first time in this competition again, and after the long wait to particiapte it truly disgusts me to think that Elverys/Rugbytech has let Connacht Supporters down yet again by not getting something to market to mark this special event....

I was assuming the HC jersey would be pretty much what Mul is wearing in that photo - i.e. the same jersey with a heineken cup logo - were people lead to believe it would be something more impressive?

Precisely.  Doesn't need to be some radical new design...just subtle, classy differences to set it apart as a limited edition article.

I don't know what the original plans were, but if a simple patch on the arm is the extent of the change, they've really missed the mark in my estimation.  No real incentive to buy it just for a patch.  We'll see for sure soon enough...

No sing of the now legendary Connacht Heineken Cup Jersey then, just a week to go before the first game. Historic season for Conancht Rugby and it looks like these clowns will bugger it up again.

I'm guessing that there isn't one at all, and that the standard home jersey with a HEC logo slapped on it will be used as per Muls jersey at the HEC Launch this week

If you're right about this, that would be an immense disappointment in my estimation.  Connacht should be taking advantage of this unprecedented merchandising opportunity in a BIG way.
