Creedence wrote: As I'm getting on in years and see the value in wise old heads over the folly of youth, I'd only half seriously like to suggest an Old Player of the Year award. It would be novel. Might be dangerous to try and award it to Swifty though
If this ever happens, I nominate Creedence as MC for the event!
Great suggestions here. For what its worth I agree with Decadence with the line between player and young player, and we'll get that set in stone.

I think an award of sorts should be made for all of the Connacht woman involved in their first ever grand slam if this would at all be possible.
And I would also like to nominate every single person who marched to 42 Landsdowne Road to save our club into the Hall of Fame (under a single award). Especially given that this year is the 10 year anniversary of the march seems quite appropriate, but appreciate this years awards are pretty much sorted.

My arguments for nominating players for one award only would be that:
a) It would feel wrong handing both awards to the same player if they win both
b) We could end up with a situation where a player wins POTY, but loses YPOTY! Which would be a bit farcical IMO
+1

In future however I think we should have a hard line on who is eligible for which award and not allow anyone to be eligible for both. 23 or under at the start of the season makes sense to me.
Being nominated for both surely isn't a problem?
23 and under from the start of season is ideal for cut off however.

Clearly these people are wrong. Democracy is no barrier to terrible decision making. First it gave us Hitler, and now Willie Faloon.
Ever since you've wrote this I've being picturing Willie Faloon with a mustache. It really suits him.
