The only way you can get at the likes of Franno or Hook or anyone who survives by being 'controversial ' (a.k.a. a dick) is to ignore them.
Let us never speak of him again

Great shout, I still have the old Neil Francis Wikipedia page saved, was quality when it was up at first, can throw it up for a few laughs.

One other point that really impressed me about mccarthy was he got boxed right in the face at least one, possibly twice during rucks but didn't back down for a second, yet equally didn't become cynical like the south africans were for a lot of the game.
Wasn't required to do if for Setanta or the Tribune, so why would he do it for a rag like the Sindo? Master of rhetoric is our Franno, going all the way back to his playing career. :side:

Mike McCarthy did indeed have a fine game, but man of the match? He was very active in the loose but gave away a number of penalties. Ruan Pienaar was the most effective player on the park and he alone controlled the game for the Springboks. If Pienaar had a partner outside him to take away some of the pressure he would be far more effective.
The Springboks had three or four goal-line attacking forays so to only profit from one of them was profligate but as usual Pienaar managed to work his way over from one of them. He is like a rattlesnake with a silencer and he struck in the 42nd minute under the sticks, McCarthy missing the vital tackle.
He really is an insufferable C U Next Tuesday. He can shove his anti-Connacht agenda where the sun doesn't shine

Fair play to Franno for spotting Macca's shortcomings. The great unwashed fell for his ploys of changing shirts with O'Mahony prior to giving away stupid penalties, and disguising himself as Donncha Ryan while he let Pienaar past him for the try, but Franno sees things nobody else does.
Mr.Hook's position atop the talking-heads-I-can't-abide chart is under serious threat.

To be fair, there's nothing Francis doesn't know about being shit in an Ireland jersey.

If he had bothered to check espn scrum for the match and player stats he would have seen that Macca made 9 tackles and missed none. He would also have seen that he conceded 1 penalty in the game and remembered that that was for offside in or around the 20th minute for their first score.
the big worry from thos stats is the lack of ball carrying metres from our pack. I guess that highlights how physical it actually was upfront.

Somehow lost the handicap draw though, I thought I had made some money there, not sure if paddypower diddled me or more likely I misunderstood the handicap draw set up....
