Was looking through the School's supplement in the Indo yesterday and backrower Rory Moloney of Roscrea looks like he could be a star. He's captaining the Leinster schools team at the moment but been from Roscrea I think there's a good chance we could grab him.

Also in the Leinster team from Roscrea were Cormac Brennan (winger) and Oisin Heffernan LH prop. Would like to see Moloney at least offered an academy place at Connacht.

Anyone in the Connacht Schools team worth keeping an eye on?

Each squad has 26 players and I think that there are 19 Leinster players on the schools and 10 in the clubs. That's 29 players from 52 from Leinster, that is some dominance by one province.

In years to come we will be getting players that are rejected by Leinster as they can only take so many in their Academy.

I think there's only 3 connacht players in the youths squad
Kevin Hastings - Westport
Jack Codyre - Ballinasloe
Conor Kyne - Galwegians
There is 19 leinster players in the schools. they had prob the strongest 18s side in the past decade this season.

He's a front rower, not sure if he's a prop or Hooker. I think prop as far as i know. He'd only be 20/21 now so a baby in propping terms. He used to play for Castlebar not sure if he still does or not.

Isn't the answer in the scoreline?

Leinster/Ulster beat Munster/Connacht 3 million to nil, or something like that. And the star performers on the winning team were from Ulster. So maybe they were just better.

Another reason is that Ulster were "at the bottom of a trough" to quote whiffof cordite. Given that they were little better than us it's little surprise Jackson et al got gametime. They'd certainly have gotten into our 15....

07/08 Ulster 9th, Connacht 10th and last; 08/09 Ulster 8th, Connacht 10th; 09/10 Ulster 8th, Connacht 10th.

Whiff of Cordite had a blog about the first Aviva game in which the combined provinces played together and how only the Ulster boys have come through. Was wondering whats happened with our crop?

Connacht/Munster:

15. Callum Boland (Connacht) - released
14. Tadhg Leader (Connacht) - ?
11. Shane Leydon (Connacht) - Academy
9. Mark Dolan (Connacht) Captain - Academy

1. Aaron Spring (Connacht) - ?
7. Aaron Conneely (Connacht) - Academy
8. Danny Qualter (Connacht) - Academy

Replacements

17. Sean Wooton (Connacht)- ?
19. David Heffernan (Connacht) - Academy?
