andy robinson has just resigned so i guess your question is now extremely valid.

it may also mean the end of bradley at edinburgh as their fans are already calling for him to be brought back. id forgotten how good a job he was doing there.

it might also take one off our list of applicants. eddie for scotland!

Former international coaches in the mix are EOS, Matt Williams, Dr Phil Pretorius, and Mike Ruddock. Dan will be a contender, but the dark horse could be Anthony Foley. Personally I'd love if Nick Mallett applied for the job.

Nah!!!

although you may be right, after today he could be out of a job! it got off to a reasonable start against all blacks too where they were competitive and scored a few tries. i remember thinking that they couuld be a handful in 6 nations(could still be) but all steeply downhill from there.

john kirwan is in charge of auckland blues for coming season.

there arent a lot of jobs out there. there are only 38 top flite club jobs in nh and 15 in sh.

It mentions former international coaches, I'd take Nick Mallet, or maybe Lievremont! :woohoo:

Kiss has shown he knows how to organise a defence, if he can stop silly 'turning off' situations then that would be great. Apart from that I don't know enough about him, except that he was not able to handle defence and attack at once (which I realise is a lot to ask, but surely a head coach will have as much or more responsibilites).

Kiss is a credible contender, and if we lose to the Pumas on Saturday I think you'll see him lob in an application.

By all accounts Jones isn't enjoying the experience. Wouldn't be surprised that he'd be on the lookout to get something else.

So pointless paper talk. Unless we lose on Saturday and Yoda gets the chop 6 months early, Kiss won't even be applying.

Eddie Jones though? Seems far-fetched.

EJ is far-fetched, he's only in the Japan job a year, and has a contract up to RWC 2015 I believe...

From today's Irish Times:

When asked about the upcoming vacancy in Connacht, Kiss said: “At this stage my whole focus is November. They’re conversations for later and deeper thoughts for me to have then.”

However, along with Declan Kidney and Gert Smal, Kiss is under contract until after the June tour to the USA and Canada, and he is not amongst the list of “approximately 40 applicants” for the job to replace Eric Elwood. Given applications close on December 1st, nor is he expected to be.

According to a Connacht statement, applicants feature “international contenders from the major leagues of world rugby and a number of head coaches who have operated at international level.”

The process of deciding a shortlist and interviewing will be conducted by a four-man selection panel of CEO Tom Sears, two members of the Connacht Professional Games Board, Conor McGuinness and Steve Cunningham, and an IRFU representative. A decision is expected in the new year.

It is understood there has been contact with former Ireland coach Eddie O’Sullivan, and that current assistant coaches Billy Millard and Dan McFarland have also put their names in the hat, with rumours that high profile Australian candidates include Eddie Jones and John Connolly.

Connacht announced yesterday that prized academy member, scrumhalf Kieran Marmion, has signed a two year profession contract until 2015.

Anyone applying from overseas would I would expect ask for details of the package up front before submitting an application, would be no point in them applying or Connacht entering discourse with them only for them to drop out at the first mention of salary...

I'd be under no illusions here either, I'm sure plenty of those applicants see the role as a stepping stone to a 'bigger' opportunity further down the line, not unlike some of the players we attract. I don't really care as long as they do a good job for the time they are contracted to us.
