That is a good idea, especially for the away trips.
If you need any help just let me know. I have plenty of experience on Joomla/Wordpress etc.

Also, there are many alternatives to Confluence. (Although in my opinion, I think Wiki type pages look a bit amateur.)

I've had a look at MediaWiki, which is open source and can at least in theory be integrated with Joomla, so I might mess around with that a bit and see where I end up.
Did we ever sort out that whole business about admin access to the website, etc?

That seems like an excellent idea.

I've had a gander on wikia (which is basically the private, ad suppored, private wikipedia) for work stuff, so that might provide a free 'in'. It might not integrate as well with the site (but to be honest, I'm not 100% up to speed on these new fangled internet things anyway).

Good idea tho. I know that there are a lot of problems with info from certain sites which we could correct and add to our own wikipedia page, we could add player stats, youtube clips etc.

Hi all. Was thinking of a few ideas to improve the website. One idea was to add a wiki so we can share info that we can all update.

The forum is being used for a lot of things it isn't really designed to handle. E.g. swift4prez has been maintaining a list of currently contracted players and when their contracts are up, which is really useful, but every time there is an update, it has to be re-posted, so I keep having to leaf through the forum to find the latest version. A wiki would allow things like that to be updated whenever they change.
Other places it would be useful would be for co-ordinating away travel (checklists of who's going, what flights they're on, where they're sitting in the stadium, etc). There were loads of forum posts flying around for the Harlequins trip, and often the relevant information was buried in there among a lot of drivel (mainly spouted by me).
Also for upcoming events, where volunteers are needed, the details of the event and lists of volunteers and attendees could be maintained. Or if someone is proposing a new event and looking for feedback, etc.

I was playing about with a few tools we could use for doing this. Here's a quick mock-up
So Swifty's list looks a bit prettier and I threw in an away travel section to give an idea what I'm driving at.

Confluence probably isn't really the tool to use as it's not really designed for the likes of us and is pricey (though they do mention that non-profits can get it for free), but it should give an idea of what I'm talking about. I can explore other free tools available that could be integrated into the Clan website.
I'd be happy to put a small bit of effort working on this if anyone reckons it's a good idea. There are a few other areas of the site that could be improved as well but this would be a good start.

If anyone wants a login to be able to edit the demo wiki, give me a shout. I only have a 30 day free trial with max ten users, but I can add and delete them as needed.
