So we're all ok with the idea of a single poll from which we draw both the POTY and YPOTY, and if the highest player happens to be under 23 he wins both POTY and YPOTY?

Marmion for both awards

Henshaw, Rodney, Marmion and Muldoon have been standouts for me

I too would have gone with Heenan up till his injury. Now as far as i'm concerned its Marmion who has done little or nothing wrong all season. His sheer consistency since he made his breakthrough has been breathtaking.

I would have picked Heenan hands down but hard to now he got injured. Rodney gets it for me lads we would be lost without him !!

I'd agree I don't think too many have been that consistent. Craig Clarke has been good but has missed so much gametime it's hard to nominate him. No-one really stands out in the backs. A lot have had their moments but not on a consistent enough basis. I'd give Matt Healy an honourable mention though.

We've eliminated all such logical discrepancies! If the best player is young then he must be the best young player!

As I said, single poll, so you only get one vote. If a 23- wins Player of the Year he'll also win Young Player of the Year.

Also, you forgot Rodney

this is my list who id think deserve to be in with a chance. future players leader and masterson. not this year though.

So the committee has been discussing this topic and the results of the above poll for the last number of weeks. We've decided that the most straightforward approach, and the one that most people seem to agree with, is to have a single poll for the Connacht Clan Player of the Year. The highest placed player who was 23 or under at the start of the season will win Young Player of the Year, regardless of where they finished in the overall poll or if they won it previously.
We will probably mark players eligible for YPOTY with an asterix in the poll.

We'll be looking to get the poll up and running in the next few weeks, so let us know who you'd like to see on the list.

Can a player be nominated in both Player and Young Player categories?

PR - now there's an idea. Put up a ballot with - say - anyone who's started half the games, same for under23s, then once the votes are in have a second round with just the top 2 or 3 in each. More Trés French than PR but just about workable

If a senior player is dominating the vote then maybe no one will vote for an under 23 player. Or if a lot of people vote for the senior players and only a very few vote for the under 23 the vote will not be representative.

We would have to do a PR system! :blink:
