Connacht Rugby’s record breaking year is set to continue with the toppling of another ticketing milestone. Over 3,000 season tickets have been sold to date and at current rates last years total will be surpassed in the next couple of days.
It has been a monumental year at the turnstiles for Connacht Rugby with thousands of supporters signing up so far. And with three months still to go to avail of the season ticket offering the party looks set to continue out West.
Demand for season tickets has been so strong in the province that certain sections of the ground have already sold out and Head of Marketing Alex Saul explains some of the reasons why:
“We took the bold decision of freezing the majority of prices and offering a series of loyalty and advocate discounts earlier in the year before we knew our Heineken Cup fate. We felt that if we got the offer right then the fans would keep on coming as the on-field and match day product is improving week on week. Heineken Cup is the icing on the cake but the package is loaded with extras such as some free transport and other incentives and we’re delighted with that its value has shone through, especially the family version of which we’ve sold to over 300 families”
Connacht launched their season ticket campaign at the end of March, two months earlier than last year and before Heineken Cup qualification was guaranteed, but that did not deter supporters from snapping up some great deals with both renewal and early bird prices offering amazing value for money.
Even as those offers end there some great deals to avail of with adult season tickets priced from just €225, that works out at less than €14 per match for each of Connacht’s home RaboDirect PRO12, Heineken Cup and British & Irish Cup games.
Alex went on to add:
“Connacht Rugby is experiencing a lot of positive change at the moment; there have been some astute signings with two Heineken Cup finalists and a world class outhalf joining the club along with some young dynamic Irish qualified players bursting through the system. This is coupled with further redevelopment of the Sportsground and a comprehensive expansion of our commercial programme. When you step back and look at it all in the context of our best ever league finish, the return of the Heineken Cup and our entry into the B&I Cup it shows the breathtaking strides the club has made in the last 12 months.”
“The people of Connacht are being swept along on this journey and the challenge for us is to raise the bar higher both off and on the field”

Nice
You mentioned 2800 on twitter, is that confirmed?
Clan Terrace has max capacity of 2012 people, so would be interested to see breakdown of ST's (how many family tickets for example)...
Decent start for sure, and if we get a good draw then we could puch that up to 3.5k. Only problem will be the fact that both main terrace areas are sold out afaik which are the areas that most people will want to stand.
Not officially announced, but over 2,500 were sold by lunch time yesterday. There's also about 300 Sts that have to be counted for that, that are given away, won, sponsors, etc.
Ive seen a few people on Facebook announce that they've "jumped on the bandwagon", and bought tickets. We need more of these folk

Great. what does that amount to? about 3000? Any idea how many non Clan have been sold?
According to the planning application for retention of the Clan stand, the capacity is 2012. ERC makes you keep 15% of all areas for visiting fans (no idea of Rabo regulations), so max. possible season tickets we could sell for it is ~1700.
Add in whatver they have for the enclosed stand and the main stand and you'd be talking somewhere in the region of 2500 at least.

RonanL wrote: Speaking of buses, a friend of mine and his Dad told me about an offer Sheridan's bar in Knocknacarra were running. For €10 they got dinner and a pint before the game, a bus to the game and back afterwards, with a second pint on return. For a tenner! I couldn't believe it. No idea if they are going to do it again next year, but if I was still living over that side of town I'd be keeping my eyes peeled come the start of the season.
Think I'm going to start taking that offer up next season if it continues. Doubt I'll return to Sheridans after the game, but still, 1 pint, a dinner, and bus to the game for €10 is stupidly cheap
