This was the update before the Wasps pre-season game
"With just 11 days until our Guinness PRO14 opener against Glasgow Warriors at the Sportsground, an extended Connacht squad departed for England today ahead of tomorrow’s opening pre-season clash with Wasps.
The match takes place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry tomorrow night (7.35pm) before Pat Lam’s Bristol visit the Sportsground on Saturday at 3pm with tickets from €5 available here.
See the latest injury update below.
Prop:
Denis Buckley sustained a minor finger injury in training last week and is due to return to squad training next week.
Lock:
Quinn Roux is returning from an ankle injury sustained whilst on international duty and will return to training next week.
Back Row:
Jake Heenan is recovering from a back injury sustained in training and his progress is being monitored by the medical team.
Scrum-half:
Caolin Blade injured his hamstring in last week’s training session Munster and will be out of action until the end of September.
Centre:
Tom Farrell will return to team training next week as he steps up his recovery from a thigh injury in pre-season.
Peter Robb is following graduated return to play protocols for a head injury sustained in training last week.
Back Three:
Niyi Adeolokun underwent knee surgery at the end of last season and will return to partial team training towards the end of September/early October.
Tiernan O’Halloran is recovering from knee surgery in the off season and will return to team training in the coming weeks."

Since then Peter has gone under the knife rather than return to play protocols. Then Caolin who was to be out with a hamstring until the end of the month is on the bench this weekend. Then Tiernan, who was supposed to be out for 'a number of weeks' is suddenly back. And after all the dropped balls last weekend probably the player of the pre-season, Rory Scholes has been omitted. And then a dysfunctional lineout has remained effectively unchanged. I am just saying it is very bizarre.

Farrell ahead of Griffin is a no brainer after last week's perfromances.

Blade back instead of Mitchell as well on the bench. Happy with the forward replacements, struggling to see though who the difference maker is to come off the bench if we're struggling in terms of attack.

Seen a photo of the team in Buskers on the Connacht facebook page. Mitchell is in a sling

I wouldn't read anything in to who's been selected and omitted, I'd say KK is just giving everyone a fair shake of the stick before he settles on his best 23.

No mention of Scholes being injured in the squad update on wednesday so I assume just hasn't being selected.

He had only nine minutes, didn't have a chance to do much of note, fluffed his one tactical kick, and we have centre cover on the bench. So he may just be not selected.

team picked is balanced and I think we are well prepared to take on the Kings, both SA teams are loose in attack and defence which should suit us, hopefully the conditions will be a bit better, i'm expecting a 10point win.

Good piece from Denis Buckley in the independent today. Some insight into how they saw the Glasgow defeat, as well as a bit of a preview of tomorrow's game. I wonder do the lads write the stuff themselves - he could have a career in journalism when he's finished playing.
